Does anyone know how to tell if your 553 unit needs the battery bumper upgrade? is it a manufacture date earlier than 2008?

I would say it depends on how many rounds your 553 has seen and if you're having issues with batteries at all. Personally, if its not broke don't fix it! I've got about 13,000 rounds with my current 553 and it runs like a clock.

2007 on should have the fix, but call Eotech & then can tell you if you give them your serial number.
