| I was wondering is a magnifier worth putting on top of my AR behind my Eotech. I'm wondering is it a whole lot of advantage? Is the Mako 5x magnifier Junk? I know I will hear buy a scope , just wondering if it magnifies it a little better @ 100 yards or not? |

I have used a 3X for a little over a year and I think they are definitely worth while. I own the 3x and 5x first generation. They are currently on their way back to the factory for replacement. I have not used the 5X yet so I'll have to get back with you. I received excellent customer serice BTW.
My experience has been that the added weight balances very good to the point I didn't notice it. If you buy a Mako, make sure you get one with the colored ring around the front. Their is still some new old stock around of the first gen Mako's and they were no good. Good news is they have a life time warranty and will be exchanged no question ask. I know a guy who came in 4th last year at the Texas National Guard Adjutant General’s Rifle Competition using an unmagnified Eotech. This year he took 1st place using a Mako 3X magnifier. They were shooting out to 400 yards. |

The reason I brought that up about the "new old stock" was I bought the old style from CTD only a month ago. I promptly discarded the original packaging so couldn't return it to the retailer.
This situation is rare. Who ever you buy it from, if it doesn't have the ring, send it back before you lose the packaging, or just send it to Mako. I noticed the absence of the ring on the 5x when I was mounting it on my new Yankee Hill Eotech Riser that I purchased from Primary Arms. This is the way to go to with the added length of the 5x. I called Mako and they said send it to them and they would exchange it for me. I didnt have to wait for it to fail! Regarding the YH Riser (#2202 I think): Everything lined up great with my Matech BUIS and FTS mount. |
