My First was the ML2. Purchased in 2003.

It was mounted in a ARMS M68 Cantilever mount and it was on my 16"
Bushmaster flat top. That gun saw a total rd count of 15K+ rds count with
about 9K using the Aimpoint. I left the first battery in and thru the
years it was not uncommon for me to forget to turn it off after a range
trip. It would sit in the case for weeks before I took it out and
noticed it and would turn it off.  I finally had to change the battery
during a class in 06.  I also switched out the ARMS mount to a La Rue
and never looked back.

They runa the DL1/3 Lithium battery. I never had a problem locating
them, there about $3 bucks and lasted me years. With the La Rue mount,
you keep a spare and your good to go for years and years...

In 2007 I used a loner gun during a class

I ran this gun for three days and put out approx 1500 rds thru it.. I
was sold on the T-1. It had a advertised 4MOA dot which turns out that
they uset he same 2MOA dot generator as the M3's, but due to the shorter
length of the tube, the doe is closer to 3.4 MOA. and when turned down,
I defy anyone to tell it's not a 1MOA dot.

It runs on a CR2032 Lithium coin battery. There cheap and plentiful.
and advertises a Battery life of 5 years if left on in the 6-7 setting.
So when I got home.. I put my ACOG up for sale on the EE (Thanks ARFCOM EE) and $479 later...

With Larue  QD Mount.it was $570 and the mount puts it in the lower
1/3 co-witness.  I slapped it on my 14.5" BCM upper/LMT Lower and left
it on position 8 for the next 2.5 years. It shot in several courses and
has approx 4K on it. It has done everything My ML2 has done in a
smaller, lighter package. The battery life is just awesome. after a
class this past Sept I let it on a brighter setting (For sunny
daylight), ran it for 3 days and forgot about it. I left the gun in the
basement for a couple of weeks (I don't run home and field strip my gun
and clean it to a mirror finish..)and
when I pulled it out, it was on #10 and the battery was dead.. that was
2.5 years from the June 07 day I first fired it up.

Here is what it currently sits on...
I can't say enough about the T-1.. it's everything a Red dot optic
should be on a gun you trust your life with... it has been on constantly
for years... have been in the snow, the rain, the mud, the hot, the
cold and has never once failed... the dot is perfect for a CQB optic and
can be seen in all conditions.. (Think Bright sunny day with a foot of
snow on the ground...)  I have never regretted the price as this will be
with me for years and years... On the other hand.. I have two $50
Chinese red dots that I bought for my .22 trainer gun that broke...
(Think $100 dollars toward a R-1..)
Zeroing it is a breeze.. nice solid clicks... only lesson that I
learned is to insure the battery compartment is screwed down tight as
there is an O-ring and if not tight, can cause partially battery
disconnection which appears like loss of  power... and I know several
other T-1 owners came on here and found out the same thing. A little
grease on a Q-tip to the O-ring.. good to go.
Some of the early screws that Aimpoint came out with stripped easily
when folks were attaching them to various aftermarket mounts...that
problem was rectified early on and has not been a problem.
As to Mounts.. I'm Partial to the La Rue.. The ADM and the DD mounts
are also excellent and would be good to go... The underside of the
mount is hollow. I place a spare CR2032 battery in a small zip lock bag
and place it up underneath as a spare... see ya in 10 years. There is
room under there for other small parts as well..
And there you have it...next...

7000SC mounted on Ruger .308 RSI.  Have had it for over 6 years.  I keep
all my optics on lowest/off setting when not in use.  This one is on
it's original battery which shows no sign of age.  Round count low,
approx 100, as it's a deer gun.  Despite round count has been out in
Maine nastiness during multiple Novembers.  Zero problems.
M2 mounted on ARMS throw lever.  Have had about 6 years.  This one
gets moved around alot from 5.56 upper to upper mostly shortys.
Adjustments work perfectly, can go back and forth between uppers by
keeping note of how many clicks needed.  Also on it's original battery
which shows no sign of age.  Round count is probably in excess of 6k
mostly FA.  Zero problems.
M3 mounted on ARMS carry handle mount.  Have had about 5 years.
Gets moved from A1 to A2 carry handle uppers.  Again, adjustments allow
easily moving by noting number of clicks required.  Also on it's
original battery which shows no sign of age (there's a pattern here).
Round count is probably in excess of 5k, mostly FA but some SA (when
it's just me shooting).  Zero problems.
9000SC 2X mounted on my K2.  Bought at last year's Midway closeout.
Round count maybe 100 rds, gun is my "by the door for coyotes on the
fly" piece.  Original battery, of course.  Zero problems, though the
narrow FOV surprised me.  I shoot thousands of shotgun rounds/annum - so
Bindon was not a new insight.  If you must shoot with one eye closed
this model is not for you.
A Midway closeout R1 is en route to me as I type this.
Have no idea about AP customer service.  Only other comment is that,
now well past age 50, APs are a blessing and revelation - as I can no
longer shoot irons decently.....unless 4-5 MOA from a bench is
considered decent with a 1 MOA capable rifle.

  • CompML3, Micro T1

  • Just over a year with the ML3, T1 was used when I got it but I've had it for about a year and a half.

  • ML3 started out mounted on an AK Ultimak rail, then moved over to an
AR15 (AFAIK the guy I traded it to is still using it on an AR).  The T1
now resides on that same AR15.

  • Unknown number of rounds with the ML3, somewhere around 2k and
counting with the T1 and another 800 coming next weekend in a carbine
    class.

  • Never a reliability problem, nor a dead battery (as expected).  I expect my T1 will be with me for a very long time.

  • No product-related CS experience, but they did send me a free hat when I inquired about where to buy one.

  • Other:  Unless you absolutely must have a 2MOA dot, go for the
Micro.  They're so light you will hardly notice you have an optic
    mounted.

Only thing is that it is so small that I keep getting fingerprints
on the lenses because there is soo little to hold on too when putting it
on and taking it off.
Got a Comp M in trade.  It was very dim, hard to see in the bright
FL sunshine, so I got rid of it.  I do not recommend the older Comp M.
Traded a pistol for a Comp M2.  Very nice sight, much much better
and brighter then the Comp M.  Trying to sell it so I can get another
T1.  The Dot on the M2 is cleaner and clearer then on the T-1.

carbine courses.  Total round count on it is probally right about 9 or
10k between a midlength and 5.45 S&W AR upper.
Dropped it optic first during a tumble at one of the Magpul classes.  Just some scuffs and good to go.  My ego not so much.
It's an expensive proposition but definitely worth it.  Spend the
money on good optics and mounts and they will take care of you.
Aimpoints are so good I ordered 2 of the R-1's from Midway even though
one of them is going on a rifle I don't even shot, just keep in case of

I own five Aimpoint red dot sights. They are a model Comp M3 (2 MOA), two M4s sights and two T-1 micro sights.
Comp M3 (2 MOA)- This was my
first Aimpoint optic and I have owned this for a few years. I have used
this sight with a few thousand rounds (5.56 / .223) fired through a
Bushmaster AR 15. This model uses a 3v lithium battery (2L76 or DL31/3N)
and I still have not burned down the 1st battery. The battery life is
5+ years (50,000 hrs day setting) and 500,000 hrs in NV mode. This model
has the ACET / advanced circuit efficiency technology. This reflex
collimator LED red dot sight is available in 2 or 4 MOA. I have to say
that this is a strong/tough and well-made optic. I also have never had
any problems at all with this optic.
Comp M4s- The 2 MOA Comp M4s
Aimpoint was my 2nd and 3rd red dot from Aimpoint and have had these
for over 1 year. I have fired several hundred rds (5.56 / .223) of ammo
with AR 15 rifles from Bushmaster, Colt and Stag through both M4s
models. These models use one AA battery and last 8+ years/ 80,000 hrs
and have 16 reticle settings,  9 day and 7 NV. I actually have been very
impressed with the quality and functions of this model red dot sight
and I consider this model to be one of my favorite out of all the
numerous models of non-magnified optics that I own. I have never had a
problem with either M4s sight and they have functioned above my
expectations.
T-1 Micro- I also own two of
these models and they also have worked without any problems. This model
also has the ACET technology with 5+ years / 50,000 hrs but uses a 3 v
CR 2032 battery. This is a very compact red dot sight with the
capabilities of a full sized red dot. I have used this sight on a few
different weapons that I own, one being a Sig Sauer piston pistol (5.56 /
.223) and I have fired a Bushmaster Carbon 15 pistol (5.56 / .223) with
this optic mounted. I have also had this optic mounted to my M107 (50
BMG) 100+ rds and have had my Barrett M82A1-416B (.416 B) with 20 rds
fired with this red dot on a side angled mount. This model has one off
setting, 8 day and 4 NV settings. I also have never had any issue or
problem with these Aimpoint T-1 Micro red dot sights.
In summary, I am very impressed with all of the Aimpoint red dot
sights that I have. These sights are really manufactured with very high
quality and perform outstanding in everything from battery usage to all
around craftsmanship and usage while firing. I also am very happy with
the strength and light weight of all of my Aimpoints. I have used these
optics enough to know that I would pick one of these models over other
manufacturers if I have any options. The Aimpoint red dots are also
credited with being combat proven and have proven themselves on the
battlefield.

Have had both the Comp M2 (ARMS #22M68 mount) and the Comp M4s (LaRue LT659 mount).

Both have been flawless.

The Comp M2 was used since about 2003 on a Bushmaster flat-top carbine and has been thru several

week-long carbine courses with zero problems. It was replaced in late 2008 with the M4s.

The M4s has been in use for two years on an LMT 14.5 flat top upper with no problems noted.

Although I had no issues with the M2, I replaced the M2 primarily because the M4s used

a AA battery and I like the fact that the M4s had even longer battery life.

Another plus was the better protected windage/elevation knobs and

more integrated mounting system.

I would buy another Aimpoint without reservation.

TexRdnec

if you should ever do something so spectacular to your aimpoint that it
needs to be reset i shall share with you the process as relayed to me by
aimpoint.

unscrew your adjustments until they are flush with the housing they sit in.

take aimpoint and bang it on something pretty hard.

take a nickel and screw both adjustments back down until the nickel will no longer turn them, this is factory zero

and that 7 year old M2 is still going to this day.  it has been
joined by two other M2s and an aimpoint PRO is in the mail to me right
now...

WasatchAR

Do not do the nickel trick with the PRO or a Comp M4. They have a new turret that will not reset in the same manner.

topgunpilot20

I got my first M2 in 2004 and ran it through a couple of classes and
monthly matches first on a 14.5" M4 clone then on a 10.5" SBR. I didn't
always leave it on, but I routinely left it on after range trips for
months at a time. I had to change the battery about every two years when
I noticed that the dot had dimmed about one setting. I spent a lot of
time at Tiger Valley with this optic where it was routinely dragged
through the mud, banged against walls, and generally abused and
neglected. It was mounted in a Larue cantilever mount and never lost
zero. The QD mount came in handy one year during the Tiger Valley Bug
Out Drill, which is a 15 mile obstacle course with shooting stations
along the way, when I had to remove the optic during a course of fire
because the simulated rain (yes, simulated rain) obstructed the
objective lense enough to obscure the 100 yard steel target. I quickly
removed the optic, finished engaging the 100 yard target, then popped it
back on to finish the day. I ended up reluctantly selling it a couple
months ago to a coworker in dire need of a patrol rifle rifle optic who
couldn't afford a new one. That M2 had about 12K rounds on it at the
time I sold it.
I got my first T1 in 2007 and ran it through a Tiger Valley carbine
course the next day. I learned early on that the battery cap needed to
be very tight or the dot would flicker on and off from recoil. I had
been using the M2 for years by this point, and after the course I felt
that the T1 gave up nothing to the larger Aimpoints and offered a less
obstructed sight picture. Combine with an Aimpoint 3x magnifier, I made
hits on silhouettes out to 500 yards at the end of the course. The T1
has since been my patrol rifle optic, and I have also used it in a
Magpul Dynamics course as well as monthly matches with the same
outstanding results. I have since sold off all my larger Aimpoints and
now have three T1s. They are all mounted in Larue mounts which come in
handy when I have to remove the optics and run irons for department
training. I have never turned any of my T1s off, and I have yet to
change a battery. My first T1 currently has about 10K rounds on it, and I
have never since the first day needed to retighten the battery cap or
experienced any type of failure.

I was annoyed that the ARMS mount slipped around on the rail, so I
replaced it with a GG&G Accupoint mount.  The battery has never run
out, but I have replaced it every three years or so.  The only thing I
don't really like about the Aimpoint is the constricted view when using
night vision (compared to an EoTech).  I like the controls and the
simple reticle.

Garage-Logician

I bought an Aimpoint Comp M-XD (3 moa dot) sometime in the late 90s.  I
put it on my Colt AR15 A3 Tactical Carbine (6721 I think).  I have
probably put better than 10,000 rounds through it in that time without a
hitch.  The battery life was advertised as 1,000 hours.  I have yet to
replace the battery.

I have a newer one on my department gun that has also performed
flawlessly.  Needless to say, I'm a dedicated and loyal Aimpoint fanboy.

Alright,
I will ask a question...  I am planning on buying an aimpoint with a
portion of my tax return money.  I will be putting it on an 11.5" cqb
carbine whenever the stupid stamp comes back.  FOr the mean time I will
probably put it on my Stagenstein.  I am up in the air between The T-1 and the M-3.  I will probably not ever use this rifle beyond 100 yards, but have no idea which one I should get.  PLEASE help me

Bub0214

Elijah1,
The T-1, does everything the larger models do with less weight.  Out to
100 yards dot size is not an issue plus the dot on the T-1 doesn't seem
as large as you might think.  Even at longer distances just turn down
the intensity setting and you will be fine.

I'm searching for an optic for my next build.  Its going to be a 14.5" mid length with a light weight barrel.  Its going to be my general purpose carbine, it will ride in the trunk sometimes, take on a home defense role and get shot at the range a lot.

I've basically ruled out everything but a red dot.  I like the idea of a 1-4x or 1-6x but think the 1x setting is all i need and the unlimited eye relief and parallax free outweighs the zoom.  I don't see any reason I'd ever use night vision so thats not important to me.  I've looked at aimpoints website and the ML3 seems like it will fit my needs, then I see the pro which on paper looks almost identical.  The M3 has a little longer batterie life (50k vs 30k) and comes in 2 or 4 moa dot vs just 2 for the pro.  What advantages is the ML3 giving me over the pro?  The pro is a newer product, comes with a mount and seems almost identical to the ML3 in performance.  What am I missing?  Is there another aimpoint that I should be looking at?

I just received a PRO sight for use on an upper that is still on it's way...  (Both ordered back in January at the show)

At the same time, I ordered the 3x magnifier, and discussed with the salesman the virtues of the twist Aimpoint mount, vs. the LaRue swing mount.  I settled on the LaRue, and I placed the order.

7 months later, my two boxes come in, and much to my frustration (with myself) no mount for the Magnifier is included.

Net, net, now I get to choose a mount for the 3x magnifier...  What options are there?  I know LaRue, but what quality mounts are out there?

Thanks for any help.

I have two Aimpoint T-1 Micros. They have ridden on everything from a SOCOM II, to various .308 and 5.56 AR's, including AR pistols. If if has a Picatinny mount, these have ridden upon it. I am a firearms instructor and I also train instructors. An easy way to teach optic mounting and zeroing is to take a bunch of optics off and play musical chairs. My students are pretty hard on my equipment, but the 2 Aimpoints have had but a single issue between them. One of them turned itself off when the rifle it was riding on was fired and would not come back on. I called Aimpoint the next Monday and the tech told me to tighten the battery cover as much as I could with the provided tool that gives one more leverage than a coin. He said that I could not over tighten it with the tool because the tool would begin to bend first. Tightening the cover with the tool until the tool began to bend solved the issue. Awesome design of the product and the tool, and awesome customer service.

I have a T1 and dropped it a bunch of times while being mounted on my AR with no zero issues at all. I have also dropped it in the sand then rinsed it off with water with no problems either.

ETA: I have had it for less then a year with around 1k rounds with it on my 5.56 AR15.

Here is a pic with sand all over it, and yes sand did get in the the threads of the front lens but I got it out with a needle and water.
