You have the option of two different holds: The "dead-on" hold and the "six o'clock" hold (shown in your pic on the right), also known as "a pumpkin on a post."

I prefer the dead on hold, which means your front sight post will split the bulleye. (Or the top of the front sight post will be your desired point of impact.) The six o'clock hold has the advantage at extreme long distance, where the front sight post is wider than the target. Using the latter hold, you will have to adjust your "come-ups" from that of a dead-on hold. Hence also why I prefer the dead-on hold.

Personal preferance..

Although most people would use a sight picture where the front sight covers only half of the target instead of the whole thing. The idea being that the top of the fronst sight is where the bullet will impact at whatever range you are zeroed at.

It is ultimatly up to you, I use a 6 o'clock hold at 100 yards and at 300 more of the picture on the left. This allows me to shoot anywhere from 7 to 300 yards without having to play with my sights.

Get out to the range and figure out what you like the most and use that.

Right side.  You aim at the bottom of the dot, which is a more precise spot than the center of the bull on the left.  Aim small, shoot small.

i prefer the 6 o'clock for the most part. this way i can see what im aiming at instead of the front post covering it up. but honestly you should use which ever works better for you.

Top of the sight at desired POI. That is how I have always done it, but I am not sure if it is 100% correct. Works well for me though.

Just make sure which ever hold you decide to use is the one you zero your rifle with.

I use the 6 o'clock method because that is what I am use to with my pistols.

To me it's an issue of what are you mounting BUIS for.  All bulleyes target shooters would opt for the right picture as that presents the best contrast for repeatable sight alignment.  If you're thinking you may need them for hunting or are simply setting up your SHTF rifle, I'd go with a center mass zero like that on the left...at least until they start breeding coyotes with bulleyes in their pelts.

The bottom example is how I've always sighted in.

I use the six o clock hold or as I call it the "lolly pop" it works well for me plus it's easier to go out to further distances without tweaking your windage

Exactly, by lolly popping it you give your self a point of aim point of impact sight picture with both sights. Also its alot easier to check your zero when your sight is lolly popped.

This. There's a right way, a wrong way and the Army way to do everything. This is the Army way (military method).

The lolly pop is what my friends in the corps showed me
