| Been thinking about getting a magnified EoTech setup. I think I want the EXPS3-4 and maybe a 5x. Anyone have experience with magnified EoTechs? How about "Flip-to-side" mounts? I'll probably be shooting 25-600yds with most of that 25-100yd. Not sure if I should go 3x, 5x, or 7x if I go magnified. Thanks! |

'25-600yds" Is a really broad range. That's nearing the max effective range of the ar15 at 600 yards (if that's what you plan to mount it on). You'd be much better with a quality variable glass optic/scope. An eotech magnified would be fine 25-200 yards. Not really any more for precision shooting. Really IMO 200 is pushing it for PRECISION shooting.
With the actual cost of an eotech + eotech magnifier or aimpoint you're looking at near a $1,000. For that you could get a really nice glass scope. |

The EoTech I was looking at has the reticle with the bullet drop compensator but at those distances seeing the target is the tricky part. I hear you on the wide range. I can shoot 300m with the iron sights as it is. I'm just not a fan of putting a full on scope on an AR. At least not on a carbine.
Primary Arms has a combo deal with the Eotech and a 5x (not Eotech) magnifier for the cost of whichever EoTech model you buy. |

Maybe look into a 1-4x adjustable CQB scope. |

I have an Eotech XPS2-0 in front of a Primary Arms 3x magnifier.
It's fine at the range but I wouldn't call it precision anything. Not because its not capable of it, but because I don't really need it to be. I'm sure someone with greater skill than I can make some fancy holes in paper at 150yds or so but for me it puts the round where it counts. I didn't build my middy to shoot one inch groups or less. That's why I chose the Eotech and not a scope or other magnified optic. If you're shooting out to 600, you should probably just get a scope. |

It's good to get feedback from someone that's used a setup you're looking at. It's sounding like I should just use iron sights and a CQB scope and maybe just save the longer shots for an R700 that's in my future. |
