| I'm getting close to ordering a red dot and there are two options for mounting, a canted and non-canted mount. Can I get pictures of both? I'm confused on exactly what "canted" is meaning. Is this mount going to be canted forward, or off to the side? Thanks |
Canted sights are those that are askew or crooked in some manner. Not good.
The word you are looking for is "cantilever". Google will answer what a cantilever is and what it looks like. For an RDS on an AR-15, a cantilever mount will put the dot further away from the shooter's eye. Some folks like them closer, others like them further away. On a true 1x RDS like an Aimpoint, eye relief isn't an issue. A benefit of a cantilever RDS mount is that it gives you more space on the receiver to mount a magnifier. I'm happy with plain, non-cantilever mounts for my Aimpoints. |
