This is a pentax red dot. Seems to be well made and does the job for around $60.

Hard to see it through the front sight if it is mounted on the flat top. The sight is mounted correctly. Shouldn't be visible if you're focused on the target, which is how you use a red dot. It looks difficult to impossible to get a cheek weld with the current setup. |

just got this sight so still experimenting with it.

I assume that's a flashlight on the rear? It's right where your backup irons should be.
Try one of these http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Midwest-Industries-MCTAR-01-p/mctar-01.htm
You can use a standard 1" scope ring to mount a flashlight. For a good backup iron sight you may look into cutting your carry handle. It's a great way to get a good rear sight without spending any money. |

It might be a laser, but it would still be better at the FSB. |

You'll need a riser in order to get the dot to co-witness or appear above the sight post. How well has that sight held up? The reviews I read about it say it was built for use on airsoft guns. |

I do not know were Pentax is made now but they have good glass in there optics. There are a lot of made in china stuff around that is made to ordered spec. There is a a lot of suppliers on this board that contract out to china and charge large amounts of money for made in china stuff. It does not make them air soft qrade optics.
All that said I love Leupold There warranty/customer service is top notch. |
| For an inexpensive optic I'd reccomend the Primary Optics aimpoint micro clone. I've had one for awhile on my AR45 and it's been a pretty good little optic. My 5.56 wears the real aimpoint micro and if you rely on this rifle as your go to gun then I'd suggest at least the R1. |

This is not an airsoft sight.

Quoted: That’s great and I am glad you like it. Just do yourself a favor and don’t fool yourself into thinking that it is a quality optic. It’s a $60 hole in your wallet and nothing else. There is a saying: Buy once, cry once. Well said. OP, report back after you have fired a thousand hundred rounds or so with that optic. Obviously you are new to this, those of us that aren't know what works and what doesn't. Don't be butt hurt when you are told the truth. |

I wasn't trying to diss the product by saying it's for airsoft, since I have no personal experience with it. Several reviews I saw on this product awhile back indicate it has a poor track record when it comes to firearms with considerable recoil, and it was on Amazon's website where I saw the user feedback concluding it was airsoft grade because of it's sensitivity to recoil. I was reporting what I had read.
If it works for you just fine without a hitch, that's what I want to know. It might be a good budget optic for light recoil applications, and the best way to find out is by asking questions. |

I was actually looking for a bushnell holosight but thought I would put My money into a couple of builds first. I may upgrade later and put the pentax on one of My target 22's.

| Don’t get upset when you post pictures of your kit and people don’t think what you bought is squared away. You made a poor choice but it’s not the end of the world. Instead of acting butt-hurt you would be better off finding out what goes into making a good optic (or any other part for you carbine) and going from there. |

People like to toss that word around like they have metallurgical and circuitry sensing vision. I'm not speaking for it or against it but have you shot it? Taken it apart for examination? Because those oreo dog treats they seem delicious.....
