Took my red dot off and headed out to the range with just the irons today.  I like the "lightness" of the irons, over the weight of the red dot on the AR, but never became proficient with them.

Anyways, while sighting in my irons, I had to dial my rear apature all the way to the left, as far as it would go, to get center of mass hits, at 65.5 yards (per the range finder).  I was in a valley, and there was a strong wind.  Was the wind affecting my shot at that close range or is there something wrong?

Techincal data:
SABRE DEFENSE lower
STAG ARMS lower parts kit
STAG ARMS flat top upper w/ railed gas block
1/9 chrome lined 16" barrel
MI low profile rear apature
MI HK style folding front sight

useing 55gr FMJ and Frangible, 5.56 NATO rounds

My guess is that your railed gas block is canted.

eta:  how does it attach to the barrel?  set screw on the bottom or cross bolt/clamp on?

Its attached by 2 set screws.  If the gas block was canted, wouldn't that affect reliability (as the gas port would not be aligned)?  I've shot well over 2,000 rounds (including today) and have never had a FTF or FTE

I zeroed my CAR today and my rear is almost all the way to the left too. Mine is a DD A1.5

My brothers DPMS was like that with a FSB and carry handle rear.  DPMS had to replace the barrel due to it being canted.
