I had one on my first AR15 it was a nice sight pretty good for the price.. Highest setting on the red was still a bit to low for daytime in winter around here.. All in all I loved the sight and wouldnt mind using it on a plinker or a dedicated 22.. For my battle gun i still love my Aimpoint. dont let the price fool you its a great sight for the price, best I have seen..

I think the current models are brighter. I could be wrong, but pretty sure they did an upgrade.

They might be the last one I owned was 2 years ago. Only got rid of it because it went with the AR it sat on. I know people who have one on a tactical entry shotgun and one on a 44 Mag hunting pistol from what they said it has stood up to there uses too...

Take a look at the SPARC it's smaller and lighter and works like a champ.  I have one and it is a great sight for the money.  There have been torture tests posted on this forum that have shown that they are pretty damn tough.

I own the newer red only version. Yes, It's worth the price. The red only is brighter then the red/green version by alot. As far as the price goes you can find discount codes around for various dealers and get them all day for $129 last i looked. You can not beat the warenty that Votex gives. GREAT customer servise if you ever need it..

I had the Vortex red/green Strikefire on my AR until recently. It functioned flawlessly thru several thousand rounds and 2 carbine classes. I did need to crank it up in the bright Florida sun, but I hear the new red-only models are brighter. I recently replaced it with an Aimpoint M3 because of the battery life and because I just wanted an Aimpoint. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Strikefire to anyone. Vortex is also a site sponsor and has a reputation for amazing customer service. For the $$, you can't go wrong with Vortex.

The cheapest I seen is from B&H photo in which price is $150 with $25 gift card.  Can you provide some leads?
