[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Trouble Getting CompM4 off my AR

I really cranked my CompM4 down on the rail on my M4 Carbine, and I am having a hard time loosening it. I guess I just have to get a good purchase on it, pull out the knob and arm wrestle it loose, right?

Anyone else cranked their's down too tight before?

Just the one that came with my CompM5, has a single ratcheting knob on one side, it clicks as it tightens.

Not really understanding - you mean the QRP2 mount? If so, I don't see how you could overtighten it with the torque knob, or why you would 'pull out the knob' to loosen it.

Could you post more info, or possibly a picture?

Righty tighty, lefty loosy.

It clicks when it reaches proper torque, no need to pull it out to get it loose. I'm using one now, but intend to replace it soon.

Sounds like it may have locktite on it or something. Did you try wrapping a rag around the knob and using some pliers on it?

If the following is your mount, there should be no way you can overtighten it because of design. Maybe try a strap wrench to break it loose if it's torqued down that much.

Some scrap leather or an old belt and vise grip pliers, the ones with curved jaws.

Yup, but can't get knob pulled out past detent to be able to turn it, will be trying with pliers next.

You should not be pulling out to take it off, just turn left.
