I'll start by saying I do not like cloned stuff, and generally try to buy only quality stuff. That being said, I just cant bring myself to pay 550.00 for the 3x Eotech magnifier I want.
What is the best cheaper/clone magnifier that actually works and will hold up. Some fella's at my local range had some called "Sight-mark" that looked OK, they were clear, and the guys claimed they held up pretty well. Any one that has one, please post pics and your experiences. I will not be using it for anything other than plinking, some hog-hunting. I'm looking for a 3x or 4x. Thanks |
| bought one of primary arms 3x deluxe, very happy with its quality and heft, bought the flip to side mount, works great and didnt break the bank, not at home so cant post picture. I would not be afraid of one of primary arms products, and his great customer service |

it all depends on why your buying one for i don't know anything about the eotech but i had the aimpoint version which is comparable since they are both top tier
I sold my aimpoint cause the cost of it was not worth what i was using it for even though i ate over $150 on the what i bought it for since i bought it new I found that the clone did not have the kind of Eye relief that the aimpoint has which is the only thing i miss about it . We all know that aimpoint is more durable when i bought one it was the only magnifier on the market once the other ones hit the market i felt really stupid spending over $500 for a monocular at least for the purposes that i bought it for. if your using one for law enforcement or military or competition conditions where you want the best spend the extra money it will be worth it. if you are not buying one for the above reasons i would still not recommend the really cheap ones because of poor eye relief . if your not buying a eotech or aimpoint, a mid range one with a warrentee would be better than the cheap knock offs these will still work fine for most competition usage like practical rifle |

I was so impressed with my Primary Arms non-deluxe magnifier (longer eye-relief and lighter than the deluxe), that I sold it and got a Vortex with ADM swing mount.
The PA 3X was like $70...the Vortex was $229 (with mount). However, the PA's eye relief is as good or better than the Vortex; it also seems to have a bit more forgiveness in side-to-side and near-far movement. The kicker is that it, for some reason, SEEMS to be magnifying a bit more. Assuming the Vortex is really a dead-on 3X, it would seem the PA is a 3.1 to 3.15...like 10-15% more magnification (this could be just my perception due to a different size exit pupil or some fancy thing like that which I don't understand). That said, the glass on the Vortex is a tiny bit better...I didn't notice at first...in fact, I was thinking the PA might be better, but around dusk, at 6:30pm last night I went out and looked at white houses down the street and I could see the white through the PA wasn't quite as bright. The Vortex SHOULD be tougher (it comes with a lifetime guarantee) and it has the vertical/horizontal adjustments to align the reticle in the center (it needed it too––whereas the PA was almost perfectly centered for me). I wish I could have done better FOV tests to see if one was greater/less than the other or if the PA really was magnifying a bit more than the Vortex. I'm loving the Vortex swing mount. |
