511: (unk early units):
Had 3 that all drained batteries, even after repair, one with loss of zero issues. Absolute crap. 512: Have 3. 2 Rev F. No problems. 1 pre Rev F (possible E?). Went back for reticle problems and was updated by EOTech. XPS2-0. Have 2. No Problems. |

Several Eotechs, mostly 512 - the workhorse. Issue with 1 I bought on EE. L3 fixed it for free even though it was older than 2 years old (their normal warranty period). The issue with that one was the display was fuzzy/splayed
Each was a Revision F - now each is 3+ years old. NEVER had any issue at all with any - except the one mentioned above. 552 with the GGG quick mount = excellent, no issues. Note - all mine use AA batteries. I use Duracell. ETA: (3) 512 models - (the Eotech that I had the issue with arrived in the mail in that condition) (1) 552 |

Had 2 512's don't know what revthey were.
The first one left after it proved to be a battery vampire, the second one left after it continued to turn off every time I shot it. On the second sight the springs were replaced and it still continued to do it. I'll get you a count of how many 511's our team has that are complete garbage. Their all battery drainers even though they've been sent back for upgrades. |

Well, I didn't have any problems until last weekend.
The batteries died and when I went to remove them, they were stuck. When they finally came out (pried out) , the spring terminals came out too. I managed to get them back in and the sight works, but I don't have real warm and fuzzies anymore. I know many high round count Eotechs can have this problem, and I guess I am not immune. 552A65 rev. 2 512s over 4 years no issues. I use Hybrid rechargeable batteries. Old Holosight XLP have to use triple A Energizers, rechargeable batteries will not work in this unit for some reason. It emits a low hum even when turned off, the 512s don't!

I had a 512 Rev F for about 3 years. Back in January it stopped working, when I opened it up I found one of the Duracell Alkaline AA's had leaked into the sight and it no longer functioned correctly. I filled out an online form at P&G who owns Duracell, they promptly replied and sent me packing materials to ship them the 512 and bad batteries. I just today received a check for full replacement value of the sight based on what I paid for it, and a letter stating that they couldn't find anything wrong with the batteries, that it had vented as designed if overheated or had too much current drawn from it. However as a gesture of goodwill they were replacing the damaged sight. The AR had been sitting in the safe for about a month so I don't know what happened, but I do know that Duracell AKA P&G has great customer service.
Now I just need to decide what to replace the 512 with. |
| Just got my 512 back... had it for three years, recticle started to get blurry in the lower right corner.. Honestly I didnt even really notice untill I read this thread, as it held zero fine, and unless you moved your head to the left you didnt noitce.. Eotech was exteamly helpfull, even fixed it for free after the warranty was up... |

Bought it about a year ago from Buds gun shop. It has worked great, its on a AR now but was on a AK until a week or so ago. |

| I have a 512 (rev. F, I think). I have had it for about 6 years and never had a problem with it. No battery issues whatsoever. I run Energizer lithiums in it and have changed them maybe twice during that time. They had plenty of juice left, but I swapped them out for peace of mind. The rifle is carried for LE/patrol duty and it spends most of the time in the trunk of a crown vic. This is the second rifle this sight has been mounted on and it has seen many thousands of rounds during its lifetime. |
| I have a model 512 Rev. F that I bought new in January of 2006. I have never had any problems with it, no battery draining problems nor any issues with turning it on. Granted it hasn't been put through too much hard use, and spends a lot of time in my safe. It has been mounted and used on my Stag 5.56mm, my 6.8mm and as of yesterday my 9mm SBR. All with no problems. Sighting it in has been very easy also. |

I've got a 512 and an XPS 2-0 and I wouldn't trade them back for an aimpoint for nothing. The eotechs are the only true sight that you can shoot 2 eyes open just like a shotgun. The aimpoint always seems to force me to have tunnel vision and close one eye to focus on the dot and target. I have never felt this way with my eotechs.
Absolutely no battery drains but I've used lithium batteries and No loses of zero. Matter of fact I've taken mine off many times and put them back on to find them no less than 1 MOA out of zero at 100 yards which is awesome. I have noticed a pattern of problems over the years with the 552 and the n cell eotechs. I've stayed away from them and I've had no problems. I will say that I have had no problems mechanically with the aimpoints I've had. There just not what there suppose to be IMO. A true close quarters optic is made for being able to acquire a target with both eyes open fast. I find myself using one eye with aimpoints when I don't with eotechs. If I only wanted to use one eye in a close quarter battle I would just go with an acog and that isn't a true CQB optic. |

EOTech 512 Rev. F bought new in 2006-on .223 AR safe queen. January 2011, battery contact came loose and nitrogen leaked from unit causing it to not be bright enough for some situations. Sent to EOTech and was either fixed or repaired free. At first EOTech wanted to charge to fix it, I waited a couple months and requested a new RMA# and told them I bought it new in Jan. 2010 since I had a receipt for newer one and they didn't ask for receipt(no questions asked) and fixed for free. Showed up in same box but different battery compartment and possibly a few less scratches?
EOTech 512 Rev F? bought new in January of 2010. No problems but is only used on a dedicated .22LR AR. Would replace with Aimpoint but don't like the "looking through a tube" feel.... |

5.11 Rev. F Bought brand new back around 2008. From day one it's battery life was much less than advertised, with the optic dieing even if it was not on. A few months after it would not work even when brand new batteries were used. Called Eotech, under warranty so they repaired it on their dime. Fixed the issue of new batteries not working, but the battery life is still a lot less than it should be. |
