I'm looking for an optic for my recce build and alot of people have mentioned acogs. I've only seen one once in person and that was at a gun shop 150 miles away. The rifle is a bcm 16 inch ss410 upper on a spikes lower. Which model would be best? I'll only be shooting at 500 yards max. Teach me what i need to know.

There is a shit ton of info in the tacked threads and also a good thread on the ta33 that should still be on page 1

ta33 thread

another good article

edit again:  one thing to bear in mind depending on your use, the ACOG is not a precision optic.  If you want to shoot little groups there are better ways to go.  Once I got that through my head I was happier with mine.

I'm not really going for tightest groups. I'd just like to hit a hog at say 400 yards. Thanks for the links i'll do some reading.

Another thing to consider:
acogs are calibrated for a specific ammo.  you will have to shoot yours at the different distances to find the poi of your ammo

When I was looking at the different models I did an archive search for "acog" for about 2 years back....it was really helpful

eta: there is a thread titled something like "no love for the ta31"  guys talk about eye relief and weight.   another one about green reticles that was interesting
