Well, my eyes are giving out on me and my front sight post is now a big blur. I bought a used Aimpoint CompM2 in good condition and for some reason I can see the the little red dot very clearly. First time out I put 25 rds in a 6 in. group at 200yds with American Eagle black box from Gander Mountain. I was pleased with this for my first time out with a newly assembled rifle.

I have my Aimpoint, w/Aimpoint mount, as far forward as I can on the upper receiver as do most people. Are there any advantages to moving the sight closer to my eye? or Farther away? I won't be using a magnifier at this time. Is it just a feel thing?

The further forward you can get it the better as this allows for a less restrictive FOV. As with any RDS, you wanna focus on the target & not the dot or the FSP with both eyes open.

It's personal pref, espcially if you're negative magnifier and BUIS (if you can't see the front sight, no reason to run a rear, right?).

Like Warpig said, further forward allows a better both-eyes-open FOV.
