I'm going to a gunshow this weekend, and in the past I've seen some dealers selling magnifiers in both 3x and 4x, however checking EO-techs home page they only list a 3x unit for sale. Does this mean any 4x unit for sale is a counterfeit? Thanks , Bob.

The EOTech 4x has been discontinued so you can still find them used or remaining inventory. Make sure you check the ARMS FTS mount as it has a serial number to indicate authenticity.

You should also know, before you throw down a good chunk of coin, that the 4x magnifier is actually 3.75x magnification.  And the newer 3x magnifier is actually 3.25x magnification.  So I ask...is the .50 power difference really worth all of the extra money.  No way!  I'll admit I love the look of the old 4x magnifier but the extra weight just wasn't worth the trouble to justify the expense.  Good luck at the show!
