I admit I have a thing for EOtechs and only own one Aimpoint. Looking for recommendations on a new Aimpoint (not T1 or H1) with a mount. I think I prefer a 2 moa over a 4 moa but that isn't a deal breaker. Just looking for something with a long battery life for a HD firearm (non AR). Trying to keep the price under $500 on it also. No need for NV either, something simple.

I'm just not too familiar with all the models out there.

The M2s and M3s are always a good call. The M2 was the Army's M68 CCO and has a 4 MOA dot. The M3 has a choice of either 2 or 4 MOA dot.

There are also the ML2 and ML3, which are the same as the above but are not NV compatible, and are $50 cheaper.

The Comp M4 and M4S. These are 2 MOA only and there is no ML variant. The "S" has the battery compartment at the bottom right of the optic in order to be low-pro. The M4 has the battery compartment where it is in order to be compatible with the PVS-14.

Battery life*
M2- 50,000
ML2- 10,000
M3- 50,000
ML3- 50,000
T1/H1- 50,000
M4- 80,000

What is your aversion to the T-1/H-1? I like mine. Long battery life, small, light-weight, and according to those that have both the dot is not really distinguishable from the M4 2 MOA. They use the same dot projection, but with the shorter distance between the lenses due to the size it is technically a larger dot.

As for <$500, most are going to be closer to $600. However, here's your best bet if they still have em. $477.95

I would look at the Aimpoint Comp C3.  You can find them for under $400 brand new.  The only differences between the C3 and ML3 is the C3 is waterproof to only 15ft and doesn't come with flip-up covers or the rubber cover.  Both of those items can be bought separately if you decide later on that you want them.

I was trying to decide between the ML3 and C3 a few days ago, and I ended up going with the C3.  I love the sight and the fact that I saved about $100 since I already had a rubber aimpoint cover.

If you're satisfied with EoTechs why change?

I really do like them. But for HD I want to leave it on 24/7 and that won't work to well with the EoTech. The battery life is much better on the Aimpoint. That's the only reason. I use the EO for everything else including carbine classes without failure.

Thanks for the information.

No aversion to the T1 really. I tried one at the range once and thought it was a bit hard to look through. Bought a couple of Primary Arms knock offs to see if I could get used to it as I like the idea of a small light optic. Still not getting the hang of it. Not sure why.

Which do your eyes like better? That's really the only question you need to answer. For me, my bad eyes find it easier to aim & shoot with the Eotech. Better field of view for my eyes. The aimpoints have a tube like a scope. For me my eyes don't like tubes, & I find it hard to use both eyes open.

I prefer the EOtech for the field of view, but it's useless for what I want to do. That's why I'm looking for an Aimpoint. May just go for a M3.

I love Aimpoints, but i also love the ret of the Eotechs. I have an astigmatism so the dots on the Aimpoints aren't the best looking. Although, I buy Aimpoints for the battery life, Ill deal with the smudge. Target, put smudge on target, hole in target. You'll get used to them after using it often, I did, and I probably won't look back
