Anyone have the pleasure of trying to get the FFII screwed into the picatinny protector mount? The ON/OFF switch part doesn't want to slide into the the mount to align the holes for the screws. GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

Maybe your mount is out of spec?

No, its just a little bit tricky. I was wondering the same thing, it just didn't want to go in but after playing with it it just fell into place ???, I actually had to set it down for a few cause I though I was going to throw it against the wall. Just play with it is all I can tell you because I didn't see exactly what I did for it to fit.

OH, you are using the thin gasket, right ?

I got it!  I put it down and messed around with something else. Then what do you know.

Question:

I JUST got my Fastfire II last night, and was thinking of ordering the picatinny protector for it.  Judging by the thread and pics, seems like a tight fit.  Does the little cover the Fastfire comes with still fit on it with that mount?  Or is it too tight to go in there?

The dust cover does fit with protector mount. But my dust cover doesn't stay on, doesn't snap on or anything, pretty much worthless. Are they supposed to snap on or what ?

No idea.  Haven't really had time to play with it yet.  It probably just sits there...most likely for use in the gun safe.  Its got an on/off switch and a light sensor to save the battery, so I doubt there is any use for the cover outside of storage, to keep it clean.

Thats what I figured. Would have been nice for it to snap on so you could leave on till use.

I've eyeballed those a couple of times, the FFII. Are you guys using these on a AR with a FSB.
Is the FSB in the way? co witness? any pics?

I'll let you know all this when I get the rifle I'm putting it on.

I've got a beautiful Burris XTR 1-4x scope I picked up nearly new for a great price, and the Fastfire II is going to go on top of it in the P.E.P.R. mount.  The AR has a folding front sight/gas block that folds down to level with the rail, and a Troy folding rear sight to sit at the back.  Should be great with the Burris set-up.  When I get the damn thing together, I'll show it off.  Can you tell I'm antsy and impatient about it?

Sounds nice, I'll be waiting...

I was thinking the FF on a riser to use in conjunction with the standard front sight

Well, I'm sure there are a thousand risers you could mount the FF picatinny mount to for the proper height, but...

I was shocked at how TINY the FF actually is.  Its downright...cute.    I'm not 100% sure what kind of co-witness you are going to get through it.  Of course, as I have mentioned, I haven't used it yet...perhaps others here can give you some concrete info on that matter.  Its small though...remember, its designed to go on pistols.  I'm using it as a back-up/fast look sight to the XTR.  With the BUIS to boot, but obviously those are "emergency" sights in the truest sense of the word...both optics would have to be broken/useless/out of batteries before I rip them off the rail and flip up the sights.

Next rifle will probably be more "traditional" with iron sights co-witnessed through an EoTech or something.  More "standard."

I am using my FFII as a primary optic on one of my AR's in a YHM riser. I have Magpul flip-ups and it co-witnesses in line with the sights. Not a lower 1/3 but right in the middle where I like it. So I would assume a FSB would be pretty similar. BTW it makes a very good primary optic. I'm starting to like it more than my eotech on another rifle because it opens up the sides so much more. I can see alot going on infront and it barely blocks any view.
