Its been a while since I was active duty. Though I never BZO'd with the MaTech, I remember sighting in the standard M16A2 sights at 25 yds at 8/3 (300 yds) and only adjusting the front sight post if I wanted to go up or down. Once zeroed, you never touched the FS and the rifle was set for 300 yds. Once we started live fire at 100 yds, we moved the rear sight to 8/3-2 and began shooting (I think thats how I remember it).
Is it the same procedure for the MaTech? I looked around for this on the net but was unsuccessful. Any guidance is appreciated. |
| 25m BZO is shot at 8/3 +1 and kept that way if you shoot 25m qual on paper. You move it back to 8/3 for pop up and known distance ranges, and for general use. I believe the Matech is set like the M4/M16A4 rear sight, 6/3. If I remember right, there is no +1 adjustment for 25m zero. Best to check 3.22-9 though, after I joined the Natl Guard I stopped paying attention to things like that. |

Zeroing Instructions:
To zero the M4/M4A1 Carbine, turn the range knob until the line on the sight cam on the left side is aligned with the 300 meter mark. Use the 25-meter zero target for the M4 Carbine and center your rounds by adjusting the weapon front sight post and the BUIS windage adjustment knob. To zero the M16A4 Rifle, turn the range knob until the line on the sight cam on the left side is aligned with the white line between the 300 and the 400 meter marks. This mark is the half notch location, so it's more difficult to align. Use the 25-meter zero target for the M16A2/M16A4 Rifle and center your rounds by adjusting the weapon front sight post and the Matech windage adjustment knob. |
