I am thinking of changing over from my fixed front sight and putting on a same-plane gas block rail. Afterwards I want to install a DD Omega 7.0 rail as. Who makes the best front gas block replacement to get? I am probably going to put a magpul front-slip up on there. Then I am choosing between Eotech or Aimpoint.

eta: I installed a Yankee Hill on a friends rifle that appeared to be a decent product. I don't think it will cover up the "scar" from the fsb though

also, mbus is not recommended for railed gas blocks....they get too hot

ok cool. I know there is one out there from PRI that will cover where the front block was. I and thinking of selling my MBUS rear sight. I just want to find a good sight combo set, its just a fortune to get a good set.

have you thought about putting the sight on the rail and putting a gas block like the other guy said...larue or other non railed style?

Cut down your existing FSB and smooth it out with a Dremel to fit under your handguard. Saves you some coin.

Use the savings to purchase a handguard rail that is longer (covers the chopped FSB) and gives you more room to mount accessories or extend your hand placement (grip) towards the muzzle. Mount your folding BUS on the rail where you want.

You will not have to worry about gas leak because the FSB is still held in by pins. Downside is you just chopped the FSB and can't put the metal back if you change your mind later.

Seems that the quality sight sets run $200 or more.....
