Just ordered a Sightmark to put on my Armalite M4. I have a flat-top model with a standard front sight. Will I need to buy a high mount to see over the front sight? I want a clear picture of the red dot on the target. I do not have a BUIS setup on this weapon. I just want the red dot. Your expert opinions welcomed and appreciated. THANKS |

I read this from another forum. Most BUIS manufacturers (saw their #) have their rear sight about 1.4––1.5 inches above the top of the rail.
You need to know the diameter of the lens of your sightmark and determine whether you want lower 1/3 cowitness(front sight at lower third of lens) or absolute(front sight at center of visual field) Primary Arms have some 30mm budget mounts that should fit your need. You can contact them for the specs. |

Just got my Sightmark in and quickly mounted it. It appears that it will absolute co-witness with the mount that came with it. I'll sight it in like this, get a MBUS and see if I like it, before I decide to go absolute or 1/3 lower. http://www.myfishingpictures.com/data/500/medium/IMG_05851.jpg A 7mm riser will give you 1/3 cowitness |

if you need a higher mount we have a lower 1/3 cowitness mount for $19.99 or a cantilever version for $24.99
To OP a mount that would completely clear the front post will be way too high. This mount would put the irons low in the sight window if you had a front and rear lined uo.. Marshall LINK
