I am looking into a budget scope for an 18-inch barreled AR15. Comparing the Mark AR 3-9, and the M223 3-12, I was wondering which optic performs better, in terms of not having a wandering zero through the magnification range of the optic, holding zero over time, the clarity of the image, how precise the adjustments are for zeroing it, etc.
I'm willing to pay the few extra bucks for better performance, but wanted one of these because I assumed they would be easier to use than buying another scope and memorizing all the ballistic charts.

Either would be a good inexpensive scope and you shouldn't have any trouble with a "wander" zero.  I tend to stick with Nikon because the Leupold's eye relief does shift noticeably when dialing in the magnification, which causes me to have to shift my cheek weld.  Of course, lots of guys are running the Leupolds and like them, so it must not bother them.

Thanks for the help. Sounds like I'll go with the Nikon, as my vision isn't stunning.

If the M223 is just like the Monarch (which i heard it is) you wont be disappointed.Really clear scope and the prices are just right.
