| Ok I know what all I am going to put on my AR, from free float tube, forward grip, and BUIS. The only thing I cant figure is what type of scope I want, first I was gonna get a 4 power scope with mil dots, and then mount a mini red dot at a 45 of that for close range, but if I did that then the BUIS would be of no use. So I decided I wanted to try just a red dot scope, know which scope do I get. I cant justify paying much more than $150 for a scope, just gonna use for hog hunting and deer hunting. I like the way the BSA sts30rgbll look, and I have a BSA scope on other guns and never have had any problems, but have heard that they have had problems with the spiral type lens covers. The perfect scope would be one no longer than approx. 7in, 1x to 4x power, with some type of mil dot or BDC type redical. I hope somebody could give me some ideas or point me to something i have not seen or overlooked |

Well, there is no perfect sight. If you are using it for hunting, I would go with a 3-9x scope. I purchased a Leupold Rifleman 3-9x40 at Walmart for $200 and I LOVE it. Glass is perfectly clear. If you want to spend more, Trijicon makes an excellent line of scopes called Trijicon Accupoint for about $600.
If you have your heart set on a red dot, and it is just for hunting, Primaryarms.com makes excellent red dots for about $100, and you can also pick up a magnifier from them for around the same price. |
| I'd agree check out primary arms. Marshall has some great products. I got my primary arms red dot for $100.00 it's a plinking rifle. Probably could have spent less and got same results. I think I'd look at the the vortex red dot for hunting purposes. I know Vortex put it through the ringers and lifetime warranty from a company that actually means lifetime. Marhsall carries them too. |

Trijicon Reflex II or EOTech. Spend a little more: Aimpoint Comp (M2/M3 or ML2/ML3) I've been down this road before looking at cheap red dots and optics. Spend a little more to get something good. The Reflex, EOTech, or Aimpoint won't fail while you're in the stands or in the field. Most of the cheap optics have very limited battery life due to power hungry diodes. |

If $150.00 is all you have to spend, then I would go with the Redfield 3-9x40 scope.
IMO it is better than the Leupold Rifleman Scope. I don't buy a scope for looks or for cool. Really, I would ask you to do w/o a cheap RDS and go up to the Vortex Diamondback 3-9x40 scope. It is ~$190.00 to $200.00 but it is a better scope than the Redfield, and even my Bushnell 3200. Why aren't you looking at the 2-7 power scopes? |
| If I can find multi power scope I want one from 1x-4x, that way if something happens in field can put on lowest power and use BUIS. If I have 2x or greater BUIS well cant be used accuratly. I just wish someone would make sometime of BDC reticale or a range retical red dot scope, like I am looking for havent found one yet that is why I am asking here hoping someone knows of something like i am looking for. To reapeat I can't justify paying EOtech prices or Aimpoints prices, if I use it everyday in battle or self defence I can see but to use it just several times a year cant see paying more than 200 dallors. |

Back up sights are, well, back up. In case the RDS goes down. Fixed or folding, doesn't matter. Most 1-4 power scopes are not true 1x on the low end. You might, or might not, have issues using your BUIS looking through the scope tube. While it is not my cup of tea, give the Primary Arms 1-4x24 scope a quick look. Marshall is pretty good to work with and the scope seems to be better than its $119.99 price would indicate. Worth a shot and it is in your price range. |
| I do like the PA 1x-4x, it is similar to Millet DMS1, if it had the same range retical as the Millet DMS1 i'd probably jump on it. The only other thing I dont like though is over all length. I am thinking of going with the PA m4 red dot, I like it just wish I knew what the MOA is of the circle retical with dot in the middle. If I knew that maybe could use that for ranging. |

Just a minor correction: The Primary Arms scope is a 1-4x not a 1x/4x (1x-4x) like the Pitbull. A 1-4x scope will adjust from 1 power seamlessly in any increment to 4 power. A 1x/4x (1x-4x) is either set to 1 power or 4 power with no adjustable power selection in between. |
