Is there really any difference in the M2, M3 and M4 or just the latest and greatest is always the best?

Battery life is the biggest difference to the average user.

Dot size also changes. M3 comes in both though I believe.

If you don't need Night Vision the Comp C3 might be a option. High battery life but only waterproof to 5 meters not 45 like the M3. Under $400 with mount.
