What is the collectives opinion of Countersniper optics?
there web site says some pretty impressive things about them, I am strongly considering getting one. Their site claims that some of there scopes are purchased for US Gov. purposes. what do you know about this? what is the experince with them? how do they compare to Luepold or others? |

How so? what has happened in the past? how did they earn this reputaion. Half of the "impressive" facts that they have listed are words that they made up, i forget what its called but the coating they boast about is an example, someone called to ask what exactly it is and they hung up on him. For the price you get a chinese made scope that looks cool. Apparently is worse then the walmart centerpoints and Leapers, since the reviews i have seen said the turrents suck and several people have had them fall off. Also the scope fails the box test (move the turrents and the POI should move a corresponding distance, and move the turrent back and you should be back to zero). I shouldnt use the centerpoints at walmart as a comparison because i have had one ($70 version) on a Mosin Nagant, and an AR and it still works perfectly. These $400+ scopes cant even hold zero on an AR. While i wanted to disregard what people said about them at one time, its true. This is not me or anyone else being an optics snob and saying to get a Nightforce, because the most expensive scope i own is $170 |
You must be gullible Of course their website says their products are great, they're trying to sell them. Read some of the claims they make, most people just laugh and walk away.

All reviews from HONEST and REAL shooters indicate these scopes are utter crap. For more laughs, download the manual for one of their scopes, more made us BS that sound impressive but are just big and make believe words designed to wow people that believe everything they read (it actually works on some), nothing else. Do yourself a favor, call them and ask them exactly what this "Proprietary rare earth/nitrogen/argon gas purged, hard earth sealed " process is, if you get an answer, do share it with us. One of the members here did ask, with predictable results. |

If the US government bought them, they can't sell for less than they charged the government. Not really well versed in gov't acquisition are you? If you ever pay as much or more for something than the gov't paid, you got ripped off. The gov't by law will pay more every time for something purchased through the official acquisition process. Federal law requires that the gov't pay the full cost of producing the product. Because of that the manufacturer cannot spread the r&d costs of a product sold to both the military and civilian market across the entire product line. Same with tooling and overhead like salaries of everyone involved with production of the product that the gov't buys. There's a reason that Boeing for example has two separate accounting department. One deals with the civilians and the other with the gov't. Makes sure that they keep salaries and cost straight. |
| i ordered one, but not before digging through this forum. i took 6 weeks to get 1 of 800 off of back-order from sportsmanguide.com. the wait from countersniperoptics was longer. obviously people are buying the crap out of them. i have not got a chance to mount or try it out yet, but i will post again after Sunday and let ya know how it is. |

I bought a cheapo scope from sportsmans guide, it broke 16 months later, i didnt even have the invoice. It was $70 and i used a $10 coupon, for some reason they gave me the full $70. Now that is customer support! |

Now that is customer support! That's good, but I would rather have a scope that still works and never have to test out a company's customer support. If I buy a scope it is because I need one, and while having my money back in my pocket is nice, it doesn't help me shoot any better. |
