Does anyone have any recommendations for eotech HWS mounts on a flat top carbine? Or if you have some links to some reviews that would help me out alot! I'm new to holographic sights.
Thanks |

Eotechs have a nice built in mount. If you get a 512, or 552 it has absolute co-witness with your standard AR sights. If you get a 517, 516, 557, 553 you will have the preferred lower 1/3 co-witness. The 553 sight has a quick detach mount built in, and the others have a thumb screw or allen screw based mount. Both are great, but depends on if you want to have tools to take off the sights or not.
Some people make a mount/rise for the Eotech, but they are not needed unless you want to run night vision optics on your gun. I would just buy a 517 or 553 and use the built in mount if I were you. If you want the new very small EoTechs, check out the XPS series and they have mounts built in too. |

Yes, the absolute co-witness is inline with the front sight post. The lower 1/3 puts the front sight post in the lower 1/3 of the window so you have more available sight picture.
The EoTech EXPS, the 517, 516, 553, and 557 all have raised bases to raise their height. If you want to modify your 512 to raise it, you can get a daniel defense, LaRue, Advanced Defense, or another brand of riser. Look them up and pick one you like and that is in your price range. |
