Does the ADM have the same vertically split design as the Larue? As in, do they mount/function the same and are they installed by tightening the bottom screws first and then the top?
Thanks.. |

Ok... ok...
I've got two more questions then: 1) How exactly does the ADM mount lock to the rail? Exact same as the Larue? Does anyone have photos? I was looking over them and realized that I've never seen the underside of the locking mechanism. 2) Has anyone had their ADM mount leave ring marks/scuffs on their optics? Just curious if the split ring is as "good as" the Larue mounts. |
| Yeah, the ADM mounts have a lot more bearing surface on the side of the rail with the locking mechanism than the LaRue does. Nothing wrong with the LaRue but I preferred the ADM. Have one Recon (dual locks) and have a Scout (single lock) on the way. As something of an aside, the ADM can be had for MUCH less money. |
| Scopes get ring marks from out of alignment or spec (too tight slightly crushing the tub or too loose allowing the scope to shift slightly under recoil abrading the finish) rings. The beauty of a one piece base is that the alignment is fixed. My ADM didn't mark up the scope in the slightest. |

The beauty of a one piece base is that the alignment is fixed. Not to disagree with you, but the one-piece bases can actually screw up alignment with horizontally split rings. Unless the base is integrally part of the rings (i.e. one piece like the NF Unimount), then the rings must be attached to the base and bolted/screwed on. The alignment is never completely perfect and will always have some margin of error and cant, stressing the tube. The vertically split rings negate this issue, as they aren't attached to the base so that they're free to center themselves around the scope and therefore don't stress the tube in the same way. The Larue rings do this. My main question is do the ADM rings do the same? They seem to have a cross-bolt/3rd bolt at the bottom of the base and I'm curious if that keeps it from centering around the scope by rigidly attaching the rings to the base. |
