Does the ADM have the same vertically split design as the Larue? As in, do they mount/function the same and are they installed by tightening the bottom screws first and then the top?

Thanks..

It doesnt say in any of the manuals i have to tighten in any order.  They are vertically split.

Ok... ok...

I've got two more questions then:

1) How exactly does the ADM mount lock to the rail? Exact same as the Larue? Does anyone have photos? I was looking over them and realized that I've never seen the underside of the locking mechanism.

2) Has anyone had their ADM mount leave ring marks/scuffs on their optics? Just curious if the split ring is as "good as" the Larue mounts.

I have an ADM T-1 mount.  It does NOT lock onto the rail the same as the Larue.

1. I find the best way to see the mechanism is on the uncluttered tangodown vfg....below is a sequence of 3 phases of operation:

As you can see it just uses 2 simple springs that are captive....then the actual locking plate, and then the ole' cave man time tested lever mechanism. No marring the rails...ever! Only real con is not so much the adjustment, but rather if you set to tight it takes an effort to release but i have a trick i use for it that makes it a breeze.

2. No marks, or light witness marks at all so far.....pretty much the vertical rings like you said take this outta the equation....and imho ADM is unbeatable in modularity within the QD game....they have all the diff optic mounts, acog, t1 and high power..bipod and surefire mounts, and the BIGGEST edge for ADM is buy one nice mount of theirs...then only buy rings for all the diff. tubes you own...they make a crap ton more others than just standard 1" and 30mm....like 32", 34" and a few others.

BUY IN CONFIDENCE imho......lastly aesthetically speaking for me at least they are simply dynamite. Hope that helps!

Yeah, the ADM mounts have a lot more bearing surface on the side of the rail with the locking mechanism than the LaRue does.  Nothing wrong with the LaRue but I preferred the ADM.  Have one Recon (dual locks) and have a Scout (single lock) on the way.  As something of an aside, the ADM can be had for MUCH less money.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

What about the rings? Has anyone had them leave marks? I'm mainly interested in knowing if they behave like Larues in that that self-center around the scope as they're being tightened (compared to horizontally split rings).

Scopes get ring marks from out of alignment or spec (too tight slightly crushing the tub or too loose allowing the scope to shift slightly under recoil abrading the finish) rings.  The beauty of a one piece base is that the alignment is fixed.  My ADM didn't mark up the scope in the slightest.

Not to disagree with you, but the one-piece bases can actually screw up alignment with horizontally split rings. Unless the base is integrally part of the rings (i.e. one piece like the NF Unimount), then the rings must be attached to the base and bolted/screwed on. The alignment is never completely perfect and will always have some margin of error and cant, stressing the tube.

The vertically split rings negate this issue, as they aren't attached to the base so that they're free to center themselves around the scope and therefore don't stress the tube in the same way. The Larue rings do this.

My main question is do the ADM rings do the same? They seem to have a cross-bolt/3rd bolt at the bottom of the base and I'm curious if that keeps it from centering around the scope by rigidly attaching the rings to the base.
