I just aquired a Leupold scope from my brother, who bought the scope new probably a few years back. Its a VXII 1-4 x 19mm scope he used for a short time on his slug gun. My question is: the power selector ring is super stiff. He said he recalls that even from new it was suprisingly hard to turn, but now the the scope has been sitting for a few years un-used, it seems even worse. I was pretty amazed myself, you really have to torque on the ring to get it to move. Its smooth when it moves, no gritty feeling of any kind, but it just takes a darn tight grip and force to get it to move. I don't own any other Leupolds... mainly Nikon's, but they move so nice and easy. Does this sound normal, I can't for the life of me think this is good?? The manual says absolutely do not try to lubricate the ring, so I won't even go there. Does this sound like something their warantee may cover? I have the original box, paperwork and it does say full lifetime warranty. Anyone have any experience working with them on a warantee issue? I want this on my new AR build, but what a pain when you want to change power on the fly.
