I have a stupid question regarding the BDC implementation on scopes. I am looking into 2 scopes right now: the NightForce NXS 2.5-10x32 with velocity reticle and the Leupold Mark 4 2.5-8x36 MR/T M2 with TMR reticle.

According to what I can find on the web sites, NighForce says their BDC markings on the velocity reticles are only to scale at 10x. I take it that means at any other magnifications, the BDC markings can not be relied on.

Leupold uses a different method for BDC, for example, the M2 turrets has the BDC markings to adjust to accordingly. What I'd like to know is whether the markings works correctly under all magnifications or only at a certain magnification?

Which implementation is better for real world use (or the pros and cons)? I hope this is not an old can of worms... Thanks!
