So I went to gun show tonight and was looking for a BUIS. All I saw were UTG, NCstar, MI, and a Troy.
Is there a BUIS that has windage AND elevation, folds down for use with optics, holds zero, and has dual aperture for close and long range?? Am I asking too much? Thanks |

Change elevation with the front sight. Why would you want to with the rear? Once zeroed on, you won't ever need to touch the adjustments. the Troy folding is a good one. I saw a few with elev on the rear, most guns have the rear sight as the elev adjustment. The front is always fixed, im not aware of adjusting the front post??? |

The front posts are adjustable for height. There is a detent pin that holds the post from turning. Just depress it with any small pointed too, and you can turn the post up or down. |

Ok, I am really looking at the ARMS 40L or 40L-SP
A few questions: 1) Would you recommend the same plane or standard and why? I am leaning toward same plane. 2) I am confused with the 400-600 ranging using the slot on top. It seems backwards. For the longer distance wouldnt you want the front post to be higher, not lower?? Also, how does the slot work for CQB and long range??? - I couldnt find a Troy with the ranging capabilities. Anyone have a link? |

The elevation drums on those rear sights are NOT for adjusting POI while zeroing, they are for quick, rough field adjustments. Use a front sight tool or an unfired round to depress the front sight detent and rotate the sight to adjust elevation while zeroing. |

It sounds like this is the BUIS you want. It will do all you want as BUIS to do, it is the same sight My unit is using on our M4's http://www.botachtactical.com/matech.html. Hope this helps. SPC I was looking at that one but was concerned about shots less than 200 yards. I am guessing under 200 you are shooting minute of man anyways? But since I am not hunting hajis, rather varmints, I think I may need an iron a little more accurate, no? Thanks for the help |

Thanks for the help If you are shooting varmints, than Troy might not be the one that you want. I find Troy's aperture to be rather "coarse" - for more precision, I like the aperture on BUIS made by Midwest Industries / LMT. Does it have to be a folding one (if you're installing a scope you have no choice, I guess)? |

I plan on putting a scope on there, but hopefully a shorter bodied one, but I imagine eye relief woudl still reguire a fold down sight.
with both the Troy and the ARMS I am having trouble understanding how I can use the same setting/peep whatever for 0-100 yds. |
