Just purchased a MaTech BUIS from Botach Tactical and on the side of the BUIS it says the words "Picatinny". Ive never seen this on the Matech sights, is this normal?
Hope I didn't get some airsoft crap. Here is a picture of what mine looks like: Click Here |

IIRC, the consensus was that it was legit, just a new marking on the newer MATECHs. |

The "red" loctite isn't the same red loctite you and I would imagine, it's not permanent. I've screwed in and unscrewed the factory screw on many Matech slights, the thread locker doesn't prevent a user from using a wrench to unscrew the screw. The blue loctite that comes in a bottle separately has more resistance than this red stuff they put on the end of the screw.
Once the screw is removed, the user is supposed reapply the thread locker on the screw. |

Thanks for the info Duffy, I soaked the BUIS in CLP to get all that sticky stuff off that is on the Matech when it's new. I didn't even notice the red stuff on the treads, do you think that red stuff is pointless after being soaked in CLP? Should I remove and re apply? |
Hmmm not sure what CLP would do to it, but to be sure, I'd remove it and apply a tiny bit of blue loctite on the end. Resist the temptation to use more than just a little, the factory recoil screw isn't very strong. To make things worse, the Allen head is oversized that makes overtorquing a common and easy thing to do. Hope your sight came with the instruction sheet, I overtorqued the screw and snapped it in half because I didn't read the manual
For a worry-free and stronger screw, check out the Improved Matech bracket and screw for the Matech BUIS on this ar15.com thread and Military Moron's review Full disclosure: I am affiliated with Battle Arms Development. |

| The color is just whatever the maker of that thread locking compound chooses to use. Red is the high strength for Locktite and Permatex (who I think makes Loktite), but another maker could use hot pink, or neon green. And the ones that are applied to the screw like that aren't as strong as what you get in the bottle most times. |
