had to move the front ring back to the last spot to get the right eye relief and it hangs off the edge of the mount.  will this cause any issues with holding a zero, or is it ok even though it looks a little weird.  thanks for the help in advance.

Get a solid one piece mount.  I would not leave my rings like that.
