| Hey guys, I am looking for a scope anywhere up to 800 dollars and no more. I want the scope for a .223 AR target rifle 20" barrel. It will be used for anything 50 yards to 600 yards. I want it to have a mil-dot type reticle and I want it to have at least 14 power. Anything over that is a bonus. I want it to have tall tactical turrets for easy adjustment and im still not decided yet on mil mil or moa turrets. I have read that mil turrets are easier to use because it makes more sense... my only hesitation is that my other scope has mil turrets and i dont want to get confused. What do yall reccommend? Thanks for the help! |

link edit out-people don't always know when you are kidding-Aimless actually id look at the trijicon line, they ahve some hot shit optics, but you are going to ahve to shop around to get it under 800... http://www.trijicon.com/user/parts/products1.cfm?PartID=634&back_row=2&categoryID=5 i cant afford one to demo it, if you buy it for me ill write a review ... |
| maybe a Vortex Viper? Forums people always saying it's good, I never used one. I have used a Falcon Menance that went up to 14x zoom. Nice clear glass but the knobs feel a bit "mushy". Still worked good though. And there's also the Wonder Optics Wotac scope. Also has good glass and really good customers service, I have the 10x model and been very satisfied with it. Knobs still a bit mushy on that one too. |
| I have a bushnell elite 4200 tact 6-24, 30mm maintube, mil-dot, side focus, and target knobs that have a better feel to them then my loopy mk4. These can be bought in the 600 range. Better glass then the falcons and great CS. The only downside sre 1/4 moa clicks(I prefer this, guess I am old school) and a limited adjustment range, about 50 moa total. |

Re: Vortex Viper. Anyone familiar with the TMCQ MRAD reticle and their website's claim that: "However, the mrad method used in the TMCQ MRAD reticle has some important advantages over an MOA method. The primary benefit is that once learned, it is much simpler and faster to use. The mrad system will also be very easy for shooters familiar with the metric system and for those shooters with previous training in using mil dot reticles.
I am only familiar with MOA reticles. I would think that if you are famliar with a partciular item, what advantage is there to switching to another if it does the same exact thing. It's like having identical cars. One is black and gets you there, but if you switch to the white car it is better at getting you to the same place? Anyone want to explain this to me? |
| SWFA SS scopes are pretty good for the money. Here's the 20x, since you were looking for >14X |

This looks like a screaming deal, but the shipping is a little steep http://www.smartwareetc.com/product.php?productid=506764 I have the 4x14x44 ffp on my 6.8–– ive had no problems.. i think its a great piece for the price.. I use a larue LT104 mount.. The gun has dropped from the top of a HD truck- landed on the scope.. When we got out i figured it would be in pieces just becasue of the price factor of the scope and some ppl's comments about the scope... Nope- was in great shape––-very suprised.. Now the truck windshield got a couple of deep scratches and the hood got some chipped paint and a couple dents but the Falcon and Larue continue to keep on pounding varmints! After the fall we checked the zero–– it was off 3" high and 1/2" left–– i figured it would be worse.. Checked it a couple of other times and still dead on....... After that I would recommend one to anyone!!! I also got in a Weaver Tactical–– will be used on my Carey Custom 204.. Have not sighted in but from the looks of it- it is a very nice built optic!!!!!!! It was 684 from midway–– think they have gone up in last couple weeks |
