I thinking about getting an Eotech for my Smith7 Wesson MP15, the model with the removable carry handle.  Thinking on going with a flip up rear site and an Eotech, but I don't know a lot about them.  Want to keep cost down so no ACOGs LOL.

If you're going w/rear BUIS then consider either the Eotech 517 (uses AA batteries, has a stronger/better designed crossbolt and side control buttons so they won't interfere w/the rear BUIS) or one of the new XPS Eotechs that are small enough that you can mount them further forward on the rail to access their rear control buttons. The 517 will be cheaper.

I just picked up a 512 the other day. So far I love it. They run about $400 - $425

I like the 512 myself, uses common batteries, cheaper then most the other ones, I got mine for $275 from the EE.

The ones that I like, in order:  XPS, 516 and 556.  You can use the same batteries as your tactical light and still keep the sight relatively small.  The XPS model also has the transverse battery compartment for added reliability. Note that the XPS is absolute cowitness vs. the 516/556 that are lower 1/3 cowitness.

I vote for the XPS series. Then if you don't end up liking the absolute co-witness, get a riser for it.

I purchased the 516 model for my M&P 15T and I can't keep my hands off it.

I decided on the 516 also, just waiting on the cash now
