I need a good ACOG Knock Off. I currently have a 4x14x40 Nikon Scope on my Bushey ORC.
But it can be hard to acquire targets quickly. So now I'm thinking something like a 4x ACOG are they easy to acquire targets quickly. But lets be real $1200 bucks I'm not the pentagon. So who makes something similar in the $300 dollar range. Any advice is greatly appreciated... |

Nobody. ACOGs are worth the money. Check out the EE for a used example. Or, sticking with Trijicon, look into an Accupoint TR21 or TR24. Folks have also claimed good things with IORs M2 and 3x25 QR-TS. All these exceed your price point for sure. But I find that with optics you get what you pay for. Good luck. |

I have never looked thru a ACOG before but I was under the impression there was no scope black out
for lack of better term you know when you have to get your eye just right to see thru a scope is this not the case. You can buy a very good quality hunting scope for 3-400 dollars why are these fixed magnifacation scopes so expensive. Im thinking TA11 |

Im thinking TA11 ACOGs are not only built really really tough, they contain the radio active element tritium which is extremely expensive. |

There are no acog knock offs. There are cheap chinese scopes that coincidentally look like an acog. No different than building a kit car that looks like a Ferarri but has a VW beetle engine. Forget about acogs, find a scope in your price range that suits your needs |

When it comes to optics, the little (expensive) details make a lot of difference IMHO. Quality of the glass, durability, features, build quality, etc. I'd save for a real ACOG personally.
But if the budget simply won't allow more than $300, then take a look at the Burris AR-332. It uses prismatic magnification (like ACOG's, and the British SUSAT) to keep the design compact. It also features a fat reticle with BDC out to 500M. The example I looked thru at the gun range had decent glass and build quality. While it doesn't have any tritium or fiberoptics, the battery powered reticle seemed reasonably bright, and having a fat doughnut, it looked like it would be easy to pick up during the day if switched off. Another plus-side is that while it looks a little ACOGish from a distance, (most prismatic sights do) it doesn't up close, which is nice considering how most optics in this catagory are just ACOG kerfs and wannabees, minus the logo. (some with a logo too )
Downside? Well it's imported, (from Chinaland IIRC) it doesn't have the battery-less 24/7 illumination of an ACOG, and it's only 3X. But @ $300, it didn't look all that bad. (except for the goofy looking China-1913 rails which are removable) Tex78 |

1337 tactical imports a acog look alike without the ilumination.
STandard 4 x32 with rail mount and the eye relief is a bit short. They are not so bad from what I have seen and the price i think was in the $200 range. Again, not a combat optic but it does work well for what it is. |

What do you deem you'll be getting? A world class scope with legendary toughness, reliability and quality, not to mention some of the best service and warranty in the industry. The asking price is reasonable.
Leupold's new CQBSS 1.1-8X for $2800, now that's questionable

Though its not really worth mentioning, I have a NCStar x4 scope, 'mil-dot,' that kind of has a similar shape as an ACOG, and it holds zero remarkable well.
A similar scope can be had from the EE for around $50... That being said, if it was financially feasible I would buy an ACOG without hesitation. |
