| Hey I was wondering. I want to go with a Super Sniper 10X on my 20". I would also like to mount a mini red dot on the scope tube. Botach had the KZ mount I would like to use and I need some help choosing the sight. I just need something that works decent, I'm not going to be dropping the rifle from any rooftops or anything. I saw that sightmark has a sight that gotten some good remarks. But anything in the 100.00 or uder range would be nice. thanks |

No recomendations???? I think the whole "under 100$" remark is why... Seriously, take it from someone who's tried it, you don't want a cheap optic. I tried NcStar once (shamefully) and learned very quickly that crappy sights are not only dangerous (if you need to use your gun in a self-defense scenario), but also very frustrating at the range...shooting is supposed to be fun, not frustrating. The cheapest I'd ever go would be a Bushnell Trophy 1x25 mini red-dot (130$). My brother has one mounted on a tricked out Mossberg 500, and it's held a zero through the brutal recoil of 00 magnum 12-guage shells. And please, not to be a jerk, but get rid of the Leapers. I understand needing to save money (I *am* a college student), but buying stuff from Leapers for anything other than Airsoft is just throwing your money away, so it kind of defeats the purpose. If you spend the money on an AR, it just doesn't make sense to mount an optic on it that may or may not hold a zero. My suggestion: throw away the Leapers (or sell it if you can) and get the new Vortex SPARC when it comes out in a couple months. It'll come with a 2x doubler that you can screw in, however Vortex will also be releasing a separate 3x unit that can be bought separately for around 130$. The SPARC itself will probably be around 250$. So that's roughly 380$ for an excellent red-dot + magnifier. If you want a red-dot + magnification, this is definitely the best and most cost-effective way to do it, while still getting a quality product. Considering I just spent about 1000$ on an Eotech + magnifier, that's a pretty darn good deal. Now if you're absolutely stuck on a scope, definitely check out the Vortex scope offerings. For only a few bucks more than the Leapers junk you could have an optic from a well-respected company with some of the best products out there, not to mention one of the best warranties. Just my .02. |
| I dont know where you are getting the Leapers thing from. I didnt know if the SS scope thing confused you but its not a Leapers. Ask alot of people who have had thes scope and they are an excellent optic. I know from first hand experience as I had one on my 700P and it performed flawlessly out to 700yds and it had always tracked perfectly. Plus it was only 300.00 new. I understand the get what you pay for so you would never catch me buying Leapers, Ncstar, Barska or any other bottom barrel optic. I just need something that works and I dont have to refinance my house to own like an ACOG or along those lines. |

For some reason I had it in my mind that Leapers made the SS, but I am definitely mistaken. Good deal, so ok, go with my first suggestion, definitely the Bushnell trophy 1x25 for a solid, reliable mini-red dot. If you want to shell out the extra bucks (and wait the extra couple months) for the Vortex that would be awesome, but considering it's just a back-up red dot you could probly be safe with the Bushnell. |
