But the C3 is submersible up to 15 feet, has a much longer typical battery life (50,000 hours vs. 10,000 hours), includes a low mount (which you'll probably never use on your AR), and comes in the 2MOA dot, which is something to consider... If you're still unsure about that C3, Weaponparts usually has the ML3 2MOA for $20 more ($420). It's out of stock at the moment, though. Edit: Weaponparts.com - ML3 2MOA |
| I ran an Aimpoint comp on my AR at work as a cop before there were such a thing as a M or ML. It got beat on. Still have it, still works. Replaced it not becaue I had to but because I can sometimes be a gear geek. If you decide to get the comp instead it is a great optic and the batttery life on a C# will be better than a ML2 (not that there is any problem with the ML2 battery life.) |
| I had done a lot of research on the difference between the C and the M/ML Aimpoints recently before purchasing my unit. It seems to be the big differences between the C series and the M/ML series is that the C Series can be submersed to 15ft and and the M/ML series can go down to 80ft. Also, with the M series it is Night Vision Compatible, other than those two differences they are virtually the same. I was about to purchase the C series from SWFA then I found a good deal on a used M2 and had ended up purchasing it. My suggestion is, either way you go, you will have a quality optic. Think about how you are going to use your rifle, and then think if you would have a need or a use for the extra features that the M series offers. Like I had said, I would have had a C series now, but I had found an M series for a great deal! Also, check out the EE for used units or even look on Ebay. But, be warned, there are allot of knock off Aimpoint units out there, be careful who and where you buy from and read threw the sticky on knock off Aimpoints! Good luck! hope this helps! |

>>C Series can be submersed to 15ft and and the M/ML series can go down to 80ft<< Unless you're a Navy Seal, it's a moot point. That was the only difference I saw, and I don't plan to go swimming with my optic or use night vision. and yes the SWFA kit has the flip covers, mount, and rubber cover. I think Im going to go with the C3. Also it will be mounted on a RRA Dominator 2 mount. Thank you all- I just wanted to make sure I wasnt missing something |

In the good old days, I got a CompC3 with Aimpoint mount for only $388. I got the 2MOA dot, and have never looked back. I also bought the optional flip up covers, not liking the bikini covers, and also got the spacer. You can get a Comp ML3 (2 MOA) today for $388 plus shipping. Of course, it doesn't come with a mount. They have the Comp ML2 for $341. http://www.manventureoutpost.com/products/Aimpoint-11416-Comp-ML3,-2-MOA.html ETA: emphasis |

I bought in 2001 a comp ml-xd with a 3moa dot and I havnt looked back .Its been ran hard and put up wet many times, its been in rain so hard I was questioning my sanity for being out in that mess popping steel plates. Its so old that back then aimpoint put the serial number on the electronic switch/ battery holder. I was looking at my receipt the old ones (I dont know about the newer modles) have a ten year warrenty that means my warranty doesnt run out untill 2011 wow thats great. And this was way before the comp3 came out |
