I recently picked up a brand new 512 from a gun shop, but I do not see any indicator to what version it is. There is a sticker on the sight located on the bottom that has a manufacture date on it (09). I can imagine that since it was made this year that is it a version F, right?

I have seen pics of other model EO tech's that have an F under the "For Law Enfrcement/ Military Use" sign. Does EO Tech do that for the 512"s?

Mine is on the left side of the unit when looking from the back end of the Eotech.

Post pics if possible.  Also it is possible that you may have the non F model

The newer 512s have the cutout in front and it still show the Rev F in the corner. Take a look at this pic and compare yours:

Everything looks exactly the same except my 512 does not have an F on the bottom corner. I will call EO Tech on Monday and find out if they have stopped putting the "F" on the units.

No, I don't think they have stopped placing the F on them. I bought one dated 9/2009 and it has the F.

I read it somewhere and have been looking for an hour but can't find it again, that the Rev F started back in 2004. If that is true a 512 without the F would have been made before that time. But I can't find that again.

ETA: I was wrong, mine is dated 6/9/2009.

I just looked at mine and it has a date of Aug 2009 and it does not have the F on the side. I know it isnt a fake, I bought it from Cabelas.

maybe it's possible somebody put a different hood on it?

It's very possible that they are starting to no longer F-mark units. Please report back to us what EOTech says.

I believe the hoods on some of the really older (non-F) 512 and 511 models have a differently shaped elevation port and logo on the battery compartment. While this may not always be the case with some of the pre-F versions (I don't know), you can sometimes spot the older EOTechs that way. Also, the older models (and maybe some of the early rev-F) come in a cardboard box and not the plastic hardcase, like what was posted above. Please correct me if I'm wrong about any of this.

Edit: Here is what the elevation port and logo look like on the older (non-F) ones:

I believe that he was posting the odd shaped cut outs for the windage and elevation adjustments on older hoods.

I called EO Tech this morning and spoke with MIke Kroll, (repair and service) and he states that:

1.  To look at the manufacture date on the sticker underneath the unit. According to him, anything after 2006 ARE Rev F.

2.   There is a difference between the manufacture date that is on the unit and the inspected date on the box.

3.  EO Tech have stopped putting the small F on the corners as indicators.

So, it looks like I am good to go.

P.S.  I took a trip at the range yesterday and zeroed the sight, it worked like a charm. First, I zeroed my BUIS  at 50 yards. Then I co-witnessed the sight to my BUIS. I flipped my front sight and BUIS down to confirm my EO Tech. It was on the money. I did not have to do any adjustments at all. I am pretty much sold on this product.
