I have a 512 on a carbine with a fixed FSB, it doesn't factor in at all.

Are you using a mount, riser with it or is that straight mounted to the rail?

Just slap it on the rail.  Some might co-witness in the lower 1/3 (my 557 does) which is fine.

Some are built raised so it can fit over the handguard to allow more room. Thats why Im leaning towards the 516/517, but then again the cheaper 512 is known to be most dependable.
