Just saw an ad in the latest issue of 'Special Weapons' for the 'insight mRDS'.  Anyone have one or have any details about it?  It seems compact, and light......

30 hour run time and $700 dollars?  Plus more money for the mount?

Um.....no thanks.

It was designed to be a back up sight for sniper rifles.  Insight, then, decided to try and make it work as a primary optic too.  As a backup, it works great, but I would not use it as a primary.  We sell it mainly for use with the SAR system.

the 36-hour run time is max brightness only. you'd normally leave it on photo-diode mode, just like the docter optic. it's not going to be on the highest setting constantly unless you're putting it under a bright light in your safe when you store it.
i just googled 'insight MRDS' and the first two links to retailers show a street price of $395 and $440.
