I received my new Aimpoint ML3 today from a reputable ebay vendor (please no you shoulda bought it from LaRue comments!). I take it out the package, put the little 3 volt in the battery compartment with the positive side up towards the cap, flip up the caps, and proceed to look
through the optic and turn the rotary knob clockwise, waiting with anticipation for that little 2 MOA dot to appear. Nothing. I reread the instructions, double check the battery. Still nothing. I flip the battery over the opposite way. Nothing. I happened to have a voltmeter and checked the battery. 2.89 volts it read. I'm not sure if volts represent battery life as I'm no electrician, but I would guess so. I doubt I'd receive a bad battery, but I'm gonna get some more shortly to double check. According to the Aimpoint instructions, I possibly have a defective rotary switch. I just sent the vendor an email telling them the problem, and that if it's the switch, I'd like a replacement. Without me paying a dime for shipping too. I'm pretty pissed (unless the battery (crossing fingers as I type) is bad ). I'm just curious as to how many of you have heard of this or have had this problem happen to you... |

Wholly shit Mr patience... you only try one battery and then email the Vendor... Try a new battery first before you have a cow.... Yes, I know I should've waited to email the vendor, but I was pretty sure the switch was the problem. Being upset can sometimes distort your judgment. Anyway, i did try another new battery and still no dot. So the email was merited in the end. |

Should've bought it from Larue. Now that's reputable. Thanks for your useless comment . Anyone have anything USEFUL to say about this problem, besides people trying to bust my balls about where I bought my ML3 from?If the vendor won't take care of you I am sure Aimpoint will. Heard anything yet? |

At this point, the best thing you can do is contact Aimpoint to get it fixed. As far as useless comments regarding your Aimpoint problem here, you need to realize that you have crossed over into near blasphemy because you appear to have a problem with an Aimpoint optic (which is rather unheard of |

I'd like the vendor to exchange the ML3 with a new one (because they have more) without me paying for shipping. Worst comes to worst, I'll pay shipping one way and bite the bullet on $10 instead of waiting probably 5-6 weeks (that's how long another ARFCOM member waited for his rotary switch to be fixed) for Aimpoint to fix it. I completely understand about the "near blasphemy." Aimpoints are highly regarded everywhere. In the ML3 manual troubleshooting section, it lists a bad rotary switch as a possible cause for no dot appearing. For them to put that in there, this problem must happen occasionally. Let's say rarely instead. That is why this thread is here. To find out more information about bad rotary switches. I wish I knew how to post pics on here so i can show that this is a genuine Aimpoint ML3. I made the "useless comment" comment because I kindly asked that no one tell me that I should've bought it from LaRue. That's what the guy did. |

You do not need to explain your "useless comment" statement to me at all (I was not criticizing you at all |

I just got off the phone with John. Great guy, btw. Anyway, the optic is not defective. Here's the problem: A TINY batch of ML3's went out without the little rubber stopper in the battery cap. I just so happened to get one of those. They have a new battery cap being shipped out to me today. F**king awesome customer service!! Oh yeah, I opened the battery compartment on the ML3, pressed down the battery really hard, turned the knob and what do you know, a pretty little red dot appeared. I'm gonna go order LT-129 right now. From LaRue

I'm gonna give a big +1 to Tate Defense (vendor). Here's their response:
"Dear nolan7120, Hi Nolan, I apologize for the delay of my response because we were having technical difficulties with our system here in the office which have now been rectified. All my items are 100% authentic, brand new in box, never used or opened, came as packaged and as delivered by the manufacturer. To compensate with your inconvenience let me know if you want items in my store and I will give you special price. I hope you're not mad at me and still do business in the near future. Sincerely, Asonja - tatedefense" That makes up for waiting 2 days to respond. They do stock ACOG's and I just so happen to really want a TA11 |
