What is the purpose of the screw at the bottom rear of the 3x magnifiers?

Is if to remove the cover over the tube?

What is the point of this covering of the tube?

I was thinking of taking it off

I was thinking WTF are you talking about. So I got my 3x out and sure enough WTF is the screw for? I don't think I would take it out without knowing for sure what it does. You may screw your warranty for sure.

I will be keeping an eye on this post to find out if anyone knows for sure.

Pics?

It might be to void the magnifier of oxygen and fill it with Nitrogen... The older Aimpoints had a screw or small plugged hole on the tube somewhere, but they seem to use a different method now.
