| I'm going to be purchasing an optic for my rifle, maybe two. I have a colt 6920 and a Spikes 22. For the colt I am leaning towards the ACOG ta33. I'm thinking of getting either an Aimpoint or Eotech for the Spikes 22. I have red several threads about people with astigmatism having problems with some of the site/scopes. Unfortunately it is my dominant eye that has the astigmatism. My question is which models should I stay away from? What models would you suggest? I don't want to drop that kind of cash to find out my eyes are not compatible. |

I have an astigmatism in both eyes.
When looking through my Aimpoint 4MOA without corrective lenses the dot appears fuzzy. It's even worse with my Eotech, the reticle appears extremely fuzzy and pixelated. With my glasses on both reticles look sharp and clear as day. Maybe its time you look into corrective lenses or contacts. |

Hey thanks a lot. That's the info I was looking for. I was assuming corrective lenses were being used when these people were having problems. I do wear glasses and even have corrective safety glasses I use for work. I guess I won't worry about it and get what I want. |

Agreed, if you will always be wearing your glasses all is well. Without my glasses, 1x's are alright, but any type of magnification creates all sorts of optical illusions. Which is why I use a Trijicon 1x42mm Reflex with the large dot (I think of the high MOA same as a large font - it's just easier to see). For me, the optic selection came down to confidence at the sacrifice of distance - the setup is very easy for both eyes to pick up and align under either scenario. The irons are always there for distance if needed. This post is not to re-start any Aimpoint, Eotech, Trijicon debates. Optics are a personal choice, just sharing my own experience with my own personal setup. |
