I got to hold one at the store the other day. Those things are so damn cute! While I didn't have it mounted to a rifle, I didn't have any problems "aiming" with both eyes open, even with the 1.5x. The optics were of course perfectly crisp and clear. The price tag was kind of although I don't know why I was expecting it to have a smaller price from the smaller size.
Anyone have one of these? I'd like to hear some more about them. 1.5x seems a little not so great to me. It isn't really enough magnification for much IMHO, and the .5x makes it more awkward for both eyes open(although still certainly doable). I think if they did a true 1x in that exact same package it would be the just about perfect. I know I would get one! The whole no batteries thing makes me grin just about every time I look through a Trijicon product and see it glowing, I don't know why, it's just cool! ETA, I'm talking about the 1.5x16 models, specifically. Those are the only ones I have seen. |
| The ultra compact size and lighter weight make them good candidates for a similar build (sbr/pistol). I have a TA44S-10 on the way so can't add alot of useful information just yet. There is a thread about the same optic; if you do a search you may find it. There's a photo looking through it that shows the reticle and magnification. To me, based on that photo, the actual magnification appears closer to 2X than 1.5X. I would think that the low magnification would make it a little quicker than higher magnification models and just add a little "boost" to your natural vision when reaching out to 100-200 yds. I also have 3x and 4x ACOG's I can offer comparisons too when it arrives. |
| I used a 1.5X special ring version for a while and found the .5X boost in magification too little for much added precision and the non 1X slowed me down enough I didnt like that magnification range. If you want a compact ACOG try a 2X. As for the 1.5X having more than 1.5X, all magnified scopes have greater magnification than your non dominant eye at closer ranges. Even a 1X scope is 2X if you look at something close enough. |
