I got a leatherwood 30mm red dot for free.  I have Troy Front & Rear BUIS.  What kind of throw lever mount can I use to be able to co-witness the red dot with the sights.  I was looking at the
A.R.M.S. #17DR, but I'm not sure if that will raise the red dot high enough.
Thanks

On this site you will get one of two answers
1 it can't be done
2 trash it and buy an aimpoint.

Just judging by my cheap Tasco BKRD42 (42mm red-dot) and the 5/8ths inch spacer I have, its got about a lower 3rd co-witness with AR15 sights.

I think with the ARMS spacer (which is about 1/2 an inch I think) it should be okay, since the bases look to be pretty close to the same height as the one I have.....

Worst case, is take something like one of those white block latex erasers, lay it flat on the rail and put your scope on top of that, it should give you a pretty close idea as to how tall you need it...

If the ARMS spacer isn't tall enough, try a B-Square spacer maybe, or even try on Ebay. the 5/8ths inch spacer I have is a cheap Airsoft knockoff POS and it works not too bad actually, although I would only trust it on a .223 rifle.

I know its not a great red dot but its free so I want to use it,  I'm issued an M4 with an Aim Point, and am not a big fan, so I would not be going that route.  Does anybody else have any ideas

Call and ask LaRue.  They will know and the 30mm mount for the Aimpoint should work fine with your 30mm Leatherwood - but by asking the folks at LaRue, they'll know what height mount you need to co-witness the BUIS.  Sorry if I sound like another "shill" for LaRue, but I think their products are the best quality and when I've called in with questions, I've gotten the right answers that I needed to do it right the first time..

Heres an idea... get a clue... if you think a cheap ass made in China leatherwood  reddot is all that vs. your issued Aimpoint....

No one makes a mount for that cheap crap for a reason....

lighten up children play nice  he is ISSUED an aimpoint dosent like it. He has a free sight for HIS rifle he wants a quality mount  for .Taking your ISSUED rifle home too shoot for fun is frowned upon in most branches of the service.

The optic was free, so I'm gonna use it.  I prefer American made products but even they can be crappy sometimes, my issued Aimpoint has mislabeled windage and elevation adjustments.  I would prefer an ACOG or a MK4 CQT, but right now neither are feasible.

The aimpoint isnt mislabeled...

Its also a 100x better optic than the knock off whatever you are asking about.

Are you using this on a different rifle or replacing the aimpoint?  Cause if you are replacing the aimpoint on your issued rifle I would hope your supervisor would nix that in an instant.

yes they are mislabeled, My unit Armorer contacted Aimpoint, and they confirmed it.   Its on my personal rifle, why in the hell would I go and replace a red dot with a cheaper red dot on my issued rifle.

He's saying that he doesn't like the Aimpoint, which he is forced to use on his issued rifle. He wants to mount this cheap red dot on his personally owned firearm. He understands that it's cheap and qualitywise can't sniff an aimpoint, but he doesn't care.
