I have an EOTech 511 on Larue mount on my AR.  I like the sight in every respect, expect it upsets the balance of the rifle.  The rifle is much easier to carry and shoot offhand just using the flip iron sight.  So I'm thinking I need a compact red dot.  What's out there that's reasonably durable but isn't ridiculously (read: Aimpoint) expensive?

Edit: Any opinions on the Bushnell mini red dot or the Sig Sauer mini red dot?

Primary Arms will have a T-1 clone soon, you could look at those.

Otherwise, buy the H-1 and just get over the price.  You'll never feel a need to upgrade / replace it like you do your 511.

Get a Primary Arms T-1 clone when available and start saving for a real H-1/T-1––you'll want one eventually.

Anybody know when these are supposed to be available?

Check out an Ultradot. Small, light, affordable, and not cheap junk. They have been around for a long time.

If you want durable, Aimpoints are hard to beat.  I would save and get a good site as there is nothing more irritating than the dot going off while shooting.  10 yr warrantee.  You pay up front but you won't look back.
