Sorry if this has been asked before everyone, im a noob to ar style rifles.  i wanted to know what a free float rail system is and what the advantages, if any, are over a non free float.

The advantage is that a ff can give you better accuracy. However on a 16 M4 it will be minimal.

On a longer barrel the effect will be greater. For the non FF can be stronger and also you can

mount a grenade lancher on one if you can get that ok by the ATF.
