I recently purchased a NIB Eotech 512.A65 to mount on a Del-Ton middie upper. Even though the sight is the raised base type, the base is hitting the handguards. Is that a common problem with certain handguards? Can you recommend a cost-effective spacer that will raise the sight just enough to put the irons in the lower 1/3 of the scope view? I don't necessarily need QD. It's driving me nuts to llook through the irons anyway.

One other question: how can you tell what revision the sight is? The only indicator is the "REVC" on the instruction sheet. The sticker on the box only says 512.A65/1

That looks like a pre-revision F sight.  The revision letter is usually on the hood, at the bottom rear corner on the left side ( to the bottom right of the photo you put up).  That is not a raised base; there is a bit of a cutaway there, yes.  And yes, some manufacturers have some really wide handguards.  The 516/517/556/557 have raised bases for a lower 1/3 cowitness.  Your "REVC" looks like a revision C sight.  I hate to ask, but where did you buy it from?  Somewhere reputable?

Impact in Ogden, UT. Is anything other than Rev F not worth having? Does Eotech still make earlier revisions, or did I get old inventory?

Strange, it has the new-style battery compartment & raised compartment lever. Look on the bottom of the Eotech and it will have the date of mfg there.

I like my Iffytech

I mean Eotech 551 F mounted AS IS on my LMT M4 14.5
The FSB doesnt get in my way at all.  I like center cowitt better.

Also my eotech just barely hits the M4 handguards

You can buy Carbine handguards  or just use the Top carbine Hand Guard and the m4 HG on the bottom?

I also took my sticker off

Good luck

Check out the RRA Dominator 2 eotech mount with A2 rear sight. I started out with the LMT BUIS as yours but there is not enough room up top for your eotech and the BUIS. I ended up selling the LMT for the RRA mount. Very stout and well made. The next choice was to go with picanny handguards to extend the mounting area. I found the unit I have on gunbroker del'd for 139.00. Good luck.

I use a YHM riser. It was like $45 with shipping.

Since the interwebs say that the YHM riser might hurt your return to 0 i used the alan wrench attachment instead of the thumb screw as i don't intend to remove it any time soon. It gives me a nice 1/3 cowitness. and my MBUS lins up just at the bottom  of the window.

I've put about 400 rounds thought it since i attached it. It hasn't moved

ETA if your eotech is resting against the hand guard you may want to slide everything back one notch. When i was first installing it the riser was lifted slightly up by the hand guard which I didn't think would be good for a consistent 0

Is there a particular date where they went exclusively to Rev F?

I have a 552 rev. F that's dated 11/05.

I checked the sticker on the bottom. It's dated July 2009 but isn't marked "F" anywhere.

I just got my 512 in the mail. I got it on ebay from macknlou (I heard on here that they are GTG and they have 100 percent feedback and only sell firearms related items) When I checked it out it does not have the small F in the corner (the description said it was a Rev F). I checked the bottom manufacture date and it says Oct of 09. It also has the newer battery compartment that has the cutout to make room for the handguard. So this has me wondering if Eotech stopped marking their sights with the F after so many years. This is the only reason I could come up with. If anyone has any info on this it is much appreciated. I plan on calling L3 tomorrow to see what the deal is.

ETA: I found out that mine is a Rev P. It has all the same revisions as the Rev F but its just a newer version. I'm not sure what the new revisions are but this is just the info I could find. If anyone can confirm this please let me know and if my info is totally fu**ed up let me know that too. Thnx
