So for a flat top AR carbine...
which aimpoint and larue mount? I have and ARMS #40 and DPMS Fixed BUIS that I can use. |
|
Maybe this'll help. ....a few of my personal favorites:
Comp-M4S w/ LT-659
T1 Micro, with LT-660
Comp M2 w/ LT-150 |
My carbine is setup for close range so I prefer the Aimpoint M2 with LaRue LT-129 Cantilever QD mount but I could still hit occasionally at 300m. Longer range, the ML3/ M3 with 2 MOA dot with the LT cantilever mount and Aimpoint 3X magnifier with LT-649-30 pivot mount works good. If I'm going for a lightweight setup I would go with the Micro T-1 and LT-660 mount. For heavy duty use the M4S with LT-659 would be a great choice. A value setup like the CompC3 and the LT-150 standard straight mount won't be too hard on the wallet. Check out these Aimpoint videos. Aimpoint - The Red Dot Solution at DownRange.TV - video link |

Quoted:
why the 2moa vs 4moa for up close? 2moa dot will allow you to hit out at longer ranges with an AR15. There is nothing wrong with the 4, you can also get the dot to "appear" smaller by turning the brightness down. Also, if you ever MAY want to get a magnifier, the 2moa dot would be a little better for that. |
| The 2 moa can do every thing the 4 moa can do, and more. If you turn the brightness up on the 2 moa it will "bloom: to a bigger size for close range work. The 4 moa is way to big for precision work at 100-300 yards. Even at 50 yards the 4 moa will not be good for precision shots. |

I never realized a optic designed for Close quarter battle was a sniper optic....
