Ok so i got my first AR, and i have NO sights whatso ever. And im looking for sights and scopes.

First off i have a flattop Armalite 16" carbine. The only place around here that i can shoot at is usually crowded ( which means i cant check the target every 5 minutes) and has 50 yard and 100 yard areas.

Now im only 18, and dont have much money. I will be mainly using a scope. But im getting the Magpul MBUS whenever the damn thing comes back in stock. I was wondering if anyone could bould point me to some good scopes that are less then $100, and arent HUGE. My father has the same AR but has a gigantic 4-16x scope which is ~14-15" long. I was hoping for a more compact scope but with a good magnification.

Two siite i have been checking out are Hammers im definetly ordering the one cantilever mount form there, and i've been looking at centerpointoptics.com (cheap and have a lifetime warranty, which makes me think they scope might actually work)

I really like the look of a more compact scope(6-10") since i have a carbine.

Remember this: I cannot justify putting i shitload of money into an optic since i only go shooting 1-2 a month if im lucky. Plus i dont have a shitload of $$$ to throw at a scope since im looking into a good bipod too.

Two quick questions...

What is the shortest bipod for a 30rd magazine?
Say if i take the scope off after zeroing it and put it back on the exact same spot will it loose zero? i would only be loosing the rings from the flattop, not the scope.

I cannot recommend any scope/ring combo for less than $100.  Shoot irons for a while, save more $$$, and get a bigger budget.

Sorry bro.

You'd be better of with irons and a spotting scope in the meantime.

You can't get BUIS for $100!

Wait until you can afford the right gear...

Check the EE

Magpul Back up BUIS if $55.05 at aimsurplus, but its out of stock right now. Yes its plastic, but everywhere i have read says they are solid and awsome. Plus i will be using a scope 99% of the time.

Sure the Magpul MBUS are out of stock at AIM, but both the front and rear are in stock at Bravo Company.  Go there, there seems to be 75 of them left.

The front sight of my AR is fixed, and I would be gambling there, hoping to get $35 for the front sight. On a tight budget im not willing to do that.

EDIT: Never mind, thought you meant the package deal. Thanks for pointing that out. Im going to order them ASAP.

I'm a firm believer in sticking with name brand optics...which is not what you have listed.

For $100 I'd recommend Bushnell Dusk & Dawn series, something 3-9X40.

Dont mean to second guess anyone here, but i was just wondering out of the center point scopes, which would nicely fit a carbine AR?

According to these people they have tried various models on rifles with much more recoil then .223 and like them. Only person who doesnt like his got it from a gun show.
