Where do you prefer mounting your CompM2-4s on your upper and why?  I prefer to cowitness with my Troy BUIS and have it near the front of the upper's rails.  Also, do you prefer a CompM4 or a T-1 Micro?

I have always had it as far to the front as possible. And of course it will be co-witnessed with the iron sights, it's hard NOT TO since pretty much any mount with an Aimpoint and iron sight combo will co-witness.

And it's T-1 by a long shot.

I've got mine as far forward as possible on the receiver in a LaRue 129 mount.

Personal preference or tactical reason you have it all the way forward?

I had my Aimpoint all the way forward, and then came back a notch towards the rear. Can't give you a logical reason other than trial and practice, and personal preference.

I have a T1 in an ADM mount almost all the way to the front of the receiver. It is set up for absolute co-witness with the BUIS and front sight on my LMT.

It speeds up transitions between targets.

Others like to keep it far forward because they also have magnifiers or night vision optics to put behind it.

Here's one instructors take on mounting your optic as far back as possible: Fighting through the Ring

That's an interesting read, but the problem there is that FOV is only a concern through the optic if you are shooting with one eye closed. Keep both eyes open like you are supposed to and your FOV is unlimited. No matter how far back you have the optic mounted, if you're only using one eye to shoot your FOV is smaller than having the optic forward and keeping both eyes open.

ETA: Check out Aimpoint's website they point out that their optics have an unlimited FOV. They're intended to be used with both eyes open.

Mine is mounted as far forward as possible on LaRue LT-129 cantilever QD mount because I also sometimes use a magnifier with LaRue LT-649-30 tall pivot mount.

My setup have a lower 1/3 co-witness with my Troy rear BUIS and standard F FSB front sight.

I'm also going to get both the M4 and the T-1 Micro in the future but I would be using the M4 on my heavy duty (heavy weight) carbine and the T-1 on my lightweight carbine.

1/3 co-witness.
